ENTERTAINMENT AT PAPANUI.
(From an occasional Correspondent.) A VABIEIY and minstrel entertainment in aid of 8t Joseph's School, was given in the Town flail, Paptnui, on Thursday, March 28th, by the members of the League of the Orosq Musical and Dramatic Olab, The, programme cousisted chiefly of minstrel songs and choruses. Mr M. Hughes acted as int rlocutor, and Mr C, A o<ikes as musical director. The following contributed to the programme : Misses Cunningham and E. Frith, and Messrs J. S. Peteraen, W. Foley, W. Naughton, W. Bagley, R Peterson, J. Hennessy, and L. Blake (songs) ; Miss Falvey and Master Falvey (Irish jig) ; Mr M. O'Reilly (recitation) ; and Messrs W. Foley and J. Petersen (vocal duet). The entertainment concluded with a (area entitled " Irish Justice '—parts taken by Mr W. Foley, C. Shan'y, M. 0 Keiliy, M. Hughes, J. Gill, J. Petersen, R, Peterstn, J. Griffin, J. Foley.
At a lion taming performance, given for tbe entertainment of the pupils at th 6 Jesuit Beminary at Iriente, in the Southern Tyrol, the lion tamer on entering tbe cage containing three lions ana one tiger, accidently stumbled, when (he tiger instantly rushed upon him. On seeing this, the tamer's wife quickly emerei the cage, and courageously seized the beast by tbe turoat. The man and his wife both succeeded in getting out without much further difficulty, but tbe tamer had already recived f^tal iojuiiea.
