Thb grat d operatic bazaar, in aid of a fund to pay off the debt on the Newtown Catholic school grounds, will be opened ia the skating Rink, on Eaeter Monday and continued during tbe week. The following operatic gem? will be included in tbe entertainments to be given e^ch evening — " Trial by jury," "II Trovatore," " Mikado,' " Lucretia Borgii," and " M*ritana." The music will include a choir of 60 voices and a first class orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr J. K°arsley. The marvellous " Fan gavotte " and maypole dance with limelight and electric t fleets by 50 little children in varied and h .ndsome costumes, will be features of the baaiar programmes. The stalls will on'ain a brilliant and artistic display of the latest novelties and newest designs in fancy goods, and will be presided over by 100 young ladies, who intend to make the coming exhibition -sale unique of its kind. A grand display of Italian statuary, ait, shooting g illeries, and other attractive Bide shows will be amongst the exhibits, and the spacious building will be specially illuminated by electricity. As already announced, an art union for some valuible prizes will be held in connection witb the baziar.

The proceeds from lhe Hiuernian concert on St Patrick's night will amount to about £40 and will be handed over to tht Irish National Federation fund.

Sunday last His Grace the Archbishop brought to a cose bis most successful mission to the men of Te Aro pariah, and on tbe same evening opened a mission for women at St Mary 's cathedral , which will be continued for the men of the parish during Holy week. Combined with bis ability as a preacher, our devoted prelate's solicitude for the spiritual welfire of his fl. >*;k ia mo9t edifying. The success of his Grace's preaohing during the last three wjeks is worthy of our greatest missionary Fathers and has produced a practical spirit of devotion in the faithful, which is most gratifying to behold.
