Wheat-While the market is not over active a moderately fair demand is experienced, more especially for prime milling velvet. Millers are operating quietly, and although their purchases are not very extensive, all offering in good condition is taken un at late ourrent rates. Although the weather was wet, we may say very wet, as the rain came down in bncketßful during the sale, the attendance of buyers from all parts of the district was very large, and Mr Bramley made things as comfortable as possible, a good luncheon being spread and shelter Drovided for buyers under the sheds. Bast sorts, up to 503 ; seed potatoes are in good request, and saleable at prices ranging from 3s lOd to si. Chaff— Best, 703 to 73a; inferior, 553 to 653 per ton (sacka extra). Properties— We have numerous enquiries for town and country propertie?, and could place a fair number if suitable and prices reasonable. Town property mostly enquired after and wanted, is 4to 7 roomed houses. Country propettiea suitable for dairy purposes and also email farms, 10 to 50 acres, for poultry, pig farming and produce. Hotel Properties— We have several clien's now on hand wanting suitable hotela either towu or country. Stkphbnson and Co. report as follows :— Toe demand at our sale on Saturday was confined almost entirely to draught end spring cart horses, of which there waa a very small entry, but if suitable sort 3 had come forward we should have been able to place a fair number at satisfactory prices. Hacks and light harness horses were fairly well represented, but the demaad for them was very slight indeed. We have a few inquiries for strong young carriage horses, and shall be gkd to receive particulars of any that may be for sale.
