OBITUARY.

Mu«h sympathy is expressed in Longburn and Palmerston North at the sad and lamentable demise of the late Mrs Flanagan who breathed forth her soul to hor Creator on Saturday last, June 24 Ji, after suffering much from cancer and general break up of her constitution,

On tne Monday previous to her death, she was preparing well to die, and her mind for a time was concentrated upon the future of her child aged 15 years, who was »n imbecila from her infancy: She prayed the Lord that God would take her before she would die and her prayer was heard, for though the child appeared to be well during the next day, inflaeDza seizjdasits victim the poor imbecile, and on Friday she was no more. On Saturday the mother waa called to her account, after spending many months of great p»ia and endurance. She died a calm and peaceful death. She was never known to complain though sometimes in the greatest agony, still her perfect resignation was noticed by all who knew her. Bbc waa often heard to utter the beautiful words : " Oh Sacred Heart of Jesus comfort me, and grant me patience." She died full of peace after receiving all the rites of our Holy Mother the Church. She was a kind mother, devoted wife, and throughout her life a good and kind neighbour. None have ever heard an unkind expreaaion pass from her lips.. Bhe bore the highest admiration of the whole country around Longburn, as her funeral tes ified by the innumerable traps, horses, and people walking in a long procession from Long. burn to Palmerston, a distance of four miles.

The remains of the mother were interred in the sama grave aa those of her late daughter, and the funeral service was read by the Rev Father Patterson who preached at the graveßide. May they rest in peece.
