SUGGESTIVE FIGURES.

«T bM ever been a cause of astonishment why Catholic Frano» -allows her destinies to be controlled by the avowed enemies of Christianity. How comes it that a nation, so thoroughly loyal in the main to the Catholic Church, and whose glorious missionary spirit is known to all the world, has allowed itself to pass under the antiChristian yoke of Masonic rule ? It is hard to answer the question and to give the history of a movement against religion, whose latest act is the attempt to degrade the priest by compelling him to serve in the ranks for a stated period as a common soldier. It is said that opulent Jews are the rulers of Catholic France, and they direct the policy of Grand Orient Freemasonry. Anyhow the country finds itself at the mercy of clever, unscrupulous men, who have BystematioaUy worked their way to political power. Ihis they now hold with a tight grasp. It is no easy matter to wrest the reins from a Government whose secret ramifications run through the land, and who have wealth and intelligence to help them to accomplish their unholy work. IJie Press is the great agency by which the present antinwistian rule Is upheld, and the French Press is to a large extent supported by Jewish money and controlled by Jewish influence. As in other lands, the Jews, by their thrift and business habits, have worked their way through the barriers of social ostracism to the highest positions in the country. They are extremely rich, and money buys power. The power of the anti-Christian rulers of France is now pat forth to cruelly oppress the Church. A day of reckoning will surely come, but in the meantime clergy and flock are suffering. Who the rulers of France really are will be apparent to anyone who reads the following tables, from official sources, of Stipends at present paid to the Catholic clergy, the ministers of Protestant sects, and the Jewish rabbis. It will be seen that the clergy of the majority of the people and of the Church which was plundered at the time of the Revolution receive on an average far less than the clergy of a Protestant and Jewish minority. We subjoin the figures. They speak for themselves, and convey much instruction ;—; — A— Catholic Prieata aalariea :—

Taking the average we find that Jewish rabbis, Lutheran pastors, and Calvinist ministers receive over £80 per annum wheieas the Catholic priests of Catholic France receive about £40, or less than half the amount paid to Protestants and Jews.
