DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Mkssbs. Wright, Stephenson and Co. report as follows :— The demand at our sale on Saturday was, for nearly all descriptions, exceedingly flat, the only exception beiofr for good active horses suitable for spring vans or spring carts. There were a fair number of both draught and light harness horses forward. We quote : For fint-clast dranghtß, extra heavy, L 25 to L3O ; good ordinary draughts (young), LlB to L 22 ; medium draughts, Ll2 to Ll6 ; aged draughts, L 6 to L 10;1 0; good hacks and harness horses, Ll2 to Ll6 ; medium do, L 7 to L 9 ; light and inferior do, L 2 10a to L 5.
MB F. Mebnan. King street, reports :— Wholesale price— Oats : U7dto Is 10£ d (bagi extra). Wheat (sacks included) : Milling, 2t 6d to 2s 10d, demand fair ; fowls', Is 9d to 2s 4d. Chaff : Inferior to medium, good supply, demand dull, £1 10s Od to £2 6s Od ; prime up to £2 10s Od, fair demand ; hay, oaten, quality new, good, demand doll, £2 15s to £3 0a ; ryegrasß, £2 15s to £30s, of good quality. Potatoes, kidneys, £4 0s Od ; derwents, £3 Od to £3 2s 6d, market fair. Flour : Boiler, £7 15s to £8 5« ; stone, £7 0s to £7 10s, demand quiet. Oatmeal, bulk, £9 10b ; 2 5 lbs, £10 os. Better, fresh, 7d to lOd ; potted, demand easier, 7d for prime Bggi, Is 4d per dozen.

Grand, indeed, when it robs one-seventh of tbe population of New Zealand of their just claims. Another objection he raised was that it would completely alter the one man one vote system, as it would mean one man two votes, one man three votes, or, perhaps, one man four votes ; Mr Swan maintaining that tbe husband would influence tbe whole house Of course Mr Swan did not tell us that he, being a brewer, was against the female franchise for tbe simple reason that if women were once allowed to vote there would be a probability of his business being very much curtailed. I s»y, with all my heart, that if by giving the ladies a vote we can get justice done to the Catholics and lessen tbe evil that is wrought by the liquor traffic, the sooner onr mothers and sisters hare a vote tbe better. It also seems strange that. Mr Swan, who belongs to the Conservative side, should trouble himself very much about tbe one man one vote.
