THE T EMU K A LEADER AND THE NEW ZEALAND TABLET AGAIN.

TO THE EDITOB N.Z. TABLET. Sin, — The editor of tbe Temuka, Leader comes oat again with another article on April 1. This time yon have taught him to be a little more, polite. He has toned down his vulgarity of language a great dea compared with his last tirade on the Tablet. Bat he wants to pat the boot on the other foot. I fancy, somehow, it Baits himself best. I thoroughly concur in yoar words of last week that an apology is due by the Temuka Lrader to his Catholic fellow-colonists, •specially those around tbe Temuka and Geraldine districts, where his paper is read. He has wounded their susceptibilities a great deal. 1 know it. I have it from several of them ; and be knows it too, for he strives to soothe their feelings by patting on a cloak of piety. Fancy him saying this is a nice Christian spirit to exhibit ia Holy Week. We will take this outburst of genuine piety for what it v worth. I challenged him last week to name me one individual in the Temuka and Geraldine districts who had kicked the Tablet oat of their homes. But he shirks that question only to tell a more palpable lie. He siys my letter was simply made up in the Tablet office ia Danedin. We cba'lenge the Tablet to give the man's name. Now, Sir Temuka Leader, if you are game (to use a vnlgar expression), I will make a bet with yon which will confute yoar own lies, If yoa stake £10 with Mr Aspinwall or Mr Angland of the Star Hotel, or any other reliable man, I will do the same, that neither this letter nor my last was made up in the Tablet office. Nor kad the Tablet office hand, act, or part in the matter. Here it a chance for yoa to win £10. It's not to say lam the only one to write condemning yoar action. I know several who said they wished they could 1 write a good letter to tbe Tablet. I now conclude by challenging yoar contemporary to publish this letter in the Temuka Leader and to accept my offer.— l am, etc., An Irishman. Temuka, 3rd April, 1893. [This letter eff -dually disposes of tbe audacious charge alluded to, in all is ramifications, and for which there is absolutely oo found*, tion. We manufacture no acoymous letters. We do not, however, suppose that our contemporary will risk £10 to prove himself guilty of an impudent falsehood.— Ed. N.Z. Tablet ]
