CATHOLIC SOCIETIES.
DUNEDIN CATHOLIC LITEBABY SOCIETY. The ordinary meeting of the abjve Society was held on Tuesday last, the St Vincent de Paul Society's concert being held on Wednesday, the usual meeting night. Tbe chair was taken by the rev president and tbe attendance was rather below the average. Messrs Miscall and Fitzgerald were elected members of tbe 6oci6ty* Mr M. Miller, who wrote under the now. dc plume of " Mona," was deciaied to be the winner of the second story competition. Charles Lever's humorous sketch " The Gridiron," was read by Mr Hally. Mr 8. Bimmonß recited " Smiting the rock," and Mr T. Lynch recited " Turnin' the points." Criticisms on these items were indulged in by Messrs P. Sally, P. Cintwell, H. F. Mooney, and D. Popplewell, and a few hints as to the style of delivery were given by the President. The remainder of the evening was taken up with th i arrangements for the concert en the following night.
