Grain. — Wheat : The quantity still to come forward is undoubtedly limited and owing to this fact a few graziers prefer holding in the meantime, in the hope of being able to secure higher prices further on and at the moment there is every indication of their anticipations being realised. We quote for prime milling northern velvet and Tuscan, 49 7d to 43 8d ; extra Drime, Id more ; southern, best, 4s 6d to 49 7d ; medium. 4s 3 i to 4s 5d ; inferior to good whole fowl wheat, 3i 6d to 4s ex s ore, terms — Oats are not in the same request, and buyers less anxious to purchasp these at late quotations. Dairy Produce.— Prime salt butter has been in better demand lately for shipment, and also for up-coun'ry requirements, at 64 1 to 7sd ; medium still difficult to place. Competition was fairly active, especially for prime b-ef, which realised prices about equal to tho-e rullmg last week, but medinm and inferior cow beef has less at en 1 ion. Chaff — Owing to the supply continuing bare, the market is firmer. Quotations : For best, 50s to 52 6d ; medium, 42s 6d to 47i 6d ; inferior, 30s to 40s per ton. Dairy Produce. — Pr.me salt butter is in short supply and in request, but without much improvement in price, which remains at 6d to 7d per lb ; medinm, almost unsaleable. There is no improvement in the demand f:>r cheese. Qiotations: For medium size factory -made, 4^l to 4$ i ; loaf, 4f I to 5d per lb. Flax. — Theie is less aaimatioa in the market, and sales more difficult to effect. Last week' 6 prices, however, are utill maintained.

All the local buyers were in attendance, and competition was exceedingly keen, prices ruling from l£d to 2d a lb higher than at our last sale. Hides. — Heavy hides are exceedingly scarce, and command good prices, 3i to 3jd per lb being re idily nail for heavy s^unl liaes. Tallow. — Prime, 19d to 21s ; melium, 15s to 17s; inferior, 12i to 14s ; rough fat, 10s 'o 13s. Wheat — .Notwithstanding unsatisfactory cablegram reports from the London market re this cereal, onces locally continue firm with a steadj demand. Milling, prime, ii 51 to 49 7d ; medium. 49 2i to 4s 4d ; broken, 3s lOd to 4s Id ; fowls' wheat, 3i 3d to 3s 9i. Chaff. — The market is bare, and there is a strong demand, but no supplies to meet it.
