The New York Sun says : " Signor Crispi's fall was due partly to French intrigues working, as no truthful French statesman could deny, for some years past quietly and persistently to undermine 'he Triple Alliance, and partly to the feeling wbicb bad grown up among the Ita ians that their country was nothing more than an apanage of the Triple Alliance, and that their resources were being exhausted to help Germany to show a bold front against France by frightening Russia from consolidating an alliance with the French Republic. The real truth of the matter is Signor Crispi's fall, like Prince Bism*ick's, waß primarily due to thediseasa known colloquially as a big head. Ho got so that the slightest criticism affected him as a sort of sacrilege, and the Italian Cb amber could no more stand this than the German Kaiser could.
