The Amencaa census some interesting facts connected with the immense livestock interests of the west. The number of cattle ranging at large on the plains is now 10,000 000, 3,000,000 less than it was ten years ago. The reason is not that the number of cattle is so much smaller than it was ten years as*o, but that the land has now been tftken up for homestends, and the cattle are on iuclosed farms and ranches. The cenaus shows further thsn the number of sheep in the west has increased 9,000,000, bein^ now 28,000,000. The northwest appeats to be turning from hogs to sheep tor profit, there b-'mg only 4,000,000 swine in that regiou in place of the 8,000,000 told off by the last c«nsue.
