From the King Theebaw's palace at Mandalay a magnificent collection of jewellery and plate has been scut to England by the viceroy, and has beea lent to the Kxhibiton by the Secretary ot Si ate for India. There are gold vases of different sizes, dishes of quaint shape (some in the form of a duck), betel boxes, reliquaries 10 hold the teetb of Buddha or other objects of veneration jade ornaments, daggers and swords, dresses, hits, slippers, a State umb ella, and — most note-worthy of all — drinking caps with Urge cone-shaped covers which envelop the vessel, a gold bottle with a crayfish-shaped head, and King Theebaw's horoscope written on palm leaves. Most of these articles are heavily set with diamonds, rubies, Lmeralds, pearls, and other precious stones. The collection baa been placed in cases adajceut to the Ceylon Court.
