In the House of Commons on Monday, Mr. Bryce, Under-secre-tary for Foreign Affairs, announced that the Government did not intend to depart from the terms of the Anglo-French agreement respecting the New Hebrides. Thubsday. Two earthquake shocks (says the Daily Times) were felt in Dunedin about 6.17 a.m. yesterday. The first one was rather severe tbis part of the Colony, and those who experienced it state that it rattled glasses and crockeryware. The second was very slight. The duration of the first shock is stated to hare been from five to ten seconds, and the apparent direction was from north to south. Our Fort Chalmers representative writes that two smart shocks were also experienced there, lasting ceveral seconds. It will be seen by the telegrams that the shocks were experienced throughout the whole of Otago and also in Canterbury. H.M.S.
