Friday.

The Cambria Gold-mining Company, Thames, has obtained a return of 254 oz of gold as the result of the last fortnight's operations. The directors have declared a dividend of 5s per share, which absorbs £7875, and a considerable balance has been carried forward. A letter lias been published from Mr. Gladstone in which he declines to receive a deputation from Belfast. In the letter he denies the plan attributed to him for the settlement of the Irish question and states that he awaits the proposals of the Government upon the subject. The following forecast of the Queen's speech, to be delivered at the opening of Parliament, has been obtained. Reference will be made to the action taken in Burmah, and a hope expressed that a final settlement of the Bulgarian difficulty will be arrived at shortly. In regard to Egyptian affairs, the English and Turkish special' commissioners will have a further conference with the Khedive. Regret will be expressed that the condition of Ireland is still unsatisfactory, and a hope that Parliament will support any necessary legislation. The speech promises the introduction of bills providing for local government in England and Scotland, a separate measure for which is being prepared for Ireland, for the crofters, the extension of the powers possessed by railway commissioners, the sale of glebes, and for the establishment of international copyright. Allusion is also made to the education commissioners, and sympathy is expressed with those affected by the existing depression in trade and agriculture.
