A young man named William Bruce recovered her by plunging in the sea. Before doing so he threw off his vest, with his gold watch in the pocket, and on returning his watch was missing. It is supposed to have been carried away from the rocks by the waves. This makes the second life Bruce has saved, the other being at Blenheim in 1870.
