The corrupting societies condemned in that Encyclical, "which work in darknes9, strive to tarnish the splendour of the Catholic Church, to break its unity, to falsify its doctrines, and even, it it were possible, to annihilate it entirely," they reprobate . with horror ; and they assure the Sovereign Pontiff that they will never have any connection with them whatever.
