DOMINICAN CONVENT SCHOOLS, QUEENSTOWN.

{Lake Wdkatip Mail, Jan. 9.) The annual distribution of prizes and honours in connection with the above schools was held at the schoolroom, Queenstown, on Monday afternoon, in the presence of several parents and a number of friends. The prizes, etc., were presented by the Lady Superior, through the Rev. Father Mackay. At the conclusion of the cc emonv the rev. gentleman delivered a brief address. He complimented the pupils on. the advances made by them in their studies, under the ladies of the schools, and said that, although parents as well as children were often dissatisfied at the awards made, it should be remembered that mentally and morally— as well as physically— all were not alike. Everyone' possessed talents, and, although -they differed in degree, it was not always those who had the innate qualities that were the moat successful, either at school or in the walk of life. The great seorefr of success towards perfection was the power of application, and he. had little doubt that some who had that day failed to secure coveted prizes, would gain their wish next year if they applied themselves assiduously to their tasks in the meantime.
