The half-yearly meeting of the Bt. Joseph's Branch was held on Thursday, 18th mat. Bio. J. Joyce occupied the chair. The principal business of the evening was the election of officers for the ensuing term, and the adoption of the quarterly balance-sheet. After reading and confirming the minutes of previous meetings, the balance-sheet was read by the secretary, and adopted,— Bro. Nelson making some observations on the satisfactory state of the funds of the Branch, and also of the confidence he felt in the future success of Hibernianism generally. In passing he paid a compliment to the secretary. The election of officers resulted in Brother D. O'Connell being re-elected President; Bro. P. Donnelly. Vice- President ; J . Dinneen, Treasurer ; P. Leahy, Secretary ; M. Mahony, Guardian ; P. Ryan, Warden ; James Nelson and Luke Archer, Sick Visitors ; Thomas O'Connell and B. J. Norton-Taylor, Auditors. Bro. J. Joyce, P.P. performed the installation, after which the President and other officers returned thanks. A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring officers, which was acknowledged by Bro. J. Nelson. Bro. Nelson was also appointed the branch's delegate to the next half-yearly meeting of the District Board, The question of establishing a Central Sick Fund was discussed and it was resolved to notify the D.S. of the Branches desire to have, the matter on the Distiict Board's half-yearly business paper.
