Otago Land Boabd.— At Wednesday's meeting consideration of a notice of .forfeiture served on James Carolin, -sections 7 and 8 bbck IV., Otara, was defeired for a week. On the motion of Mr Stont it was resolved—" That the Board desires to express its hope that in any amending Land Act due provision will be made for permitting pastoral lands near settlement to, be leased, and that one block only be held by one lessee, as previously urged by the Board in the report on run 137, Beaumont." W. Shirre's application to occupy Hi acres adjoining bis homestead run 243 a, was granted. On the application of H. Withey it was resolved that the quarry reserve, block VII., Waihemo, be offered for sale as land of special value, it having been withheld from sale, at the upset price of 25a, with valuation for improvements." In the case of certain deferred-pay-ment selectors in arrears it was resolved—" That the selectors mentioned be informed that if arrangements are not made to pay arrears within a month from date their licenses will be forefeited." With respect to the western 20 acres of section 3, block XI., Naaeby, it was resolved — il That the area covering the probable deposit of lignite be surveyed and deducted before the section is offered for agricultural leasing." The request of the Wanaka Progress Committee, that the land bordering on the lake bo surveyed into a double line of sections of from three to five acres, was referred to the chief surveyor with a view of having the request carried out, no section to exceed 10 acres. Oa the motion of Mr. Clark it was resolved— " That the Government be recommended to open for perpetual leas, ing sections 1, 9, 10, 11, and 12, block VII., Mount Hyde."
