The announcement having been made that a Nationalist meeting would be held in the Londonderry Town Hall on Thursday evening, a large body of Orangemen proceeded to the building and took forcible possession of the hall. The meeting of Nationalists was consequently put off. Captain Jonson, of H.M.S. Dryad, has reported that while his vessel was assisting a vessel to ba)la9t, two of the French men-of-war now statiujjed at Tamatave cleared for action, and pointed Gatling guns at the Dryad. Her Majesty the Queen has by a» Order in Council declared that part of the Fugitive Offenders* Act 6* 1881, passed by the Imperial Parliament, shall apply to New Zealand and the Australian Colonies on and after the Ist January next. His Excellency the Governor has issued the proclamation to this effect. Mr. Mitchelson, the membrr f >r Marsden, has been ofiered and has accepted a seat in the Cab"i ct a i h the portfolio of Public Works. The Hon. Mr. Johnston resign- office within a fortnight, and Mr. Mitchelson will enter on bis official duties at once. The Orangemen of Derry fired on a procession escorting the Mayor of Dublin, and two Catholics were wounded. Serious riots ensued, but they have been suppressed. Telegrams to hand from Zanzibar state the Hovas are evincing a desire to come to terms with the French, and recently offered to 1 treat for a cessation of hostilities. The offer was accepted by Admiral Gallagher, and negotiations are now proceeding.
