At 8 o'clock on Tuesday night an attempt was made to destroy the London underground railway near Praed street station by means of dynamite. The explosion resulted in great damage being done to the road, and 40 passengers who were in the train, which was in the tunnel, were injured. Between Charing Cross and Westminster street another explosion occured, but fortunately no damage was done either to train or station. At the time of the explosions the railways wore crowded with visitors to the Fisheries Exhibition. This dastardly attempt to destroy life and property is attributed to the Fenians.— The report is a matter of course, but not necessarily to be accepted as ttue, Mr. Michael Landers, of the Thames, left by the Waihora for Sydney as delegate for the Auckland and Thames brancre=s of the Irish Natienal League at the Melbourne Convention. Messrs. Browne and J. J. Connor leave Port Chalmers to-day by the Te Anau to attend the Convention as delegates respectively for Wellington and Dunedia. Thp. Irish national journals insist that the Roman Catholic Archbishopric of Sydney, recently rendered vacant by the death of the late Archbishop Vaughan, should be conferred upon an Irishman. The Ross United Gold-mining Company has washed 4oz. 16dwt. gold from 2£ sets. In the Chamber of Deputies, M. Challemel-Lacour' has been questioned by the leaders of the Radical party regarding the intentions
