CANTERBURY CATHOLIC LITERARY SOCIETY.
AT the meeting of Monday, September 4th, the programme for the evening was a concert by the members of the Glee Club. There was an excellent programme of songs and choruses interspersed with readings and recitations. The various items were well rendered by Messrs. Sam van, Bagley, Adams and Gegan, assisted by the members of the Glee Club. Mr. Oaks accompanied, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. It is pleasant to notice, from month to month, the improvement made by the members of the Glee Club. At the commencement of the winter, classes were formed in elementary astronomy and Latin. Wednesday evenings were eet apart for the classes, and we are pleased to be able to state that these classes have been well attended. The astronomy clafis has proved especially attractive, and some really solid work has been done The experiment has worked so well that it is expected these Winter classes will be continued next year and other subjects add<*l
