An extraordinary story is told of Mr. Mackay, the American millionaire, who has just completed a tour of Europe and returned to his home in tbe West. During his travels through Germany, Italy and Russia tie was subjected to great annoyance by a mysterious stranger, supposed to be an American, who* followed hiua in all his wanderings, invariably took thi same railway train, alighted at the same stations, and always visible at a certain distance watching his movements whenever he sought repose at any of the places where, he might chance to stop, and all this without addressing a word to the object of his attention. O£ course, speculation ia busy in trying to account for the pertinacity of the atten lant in dogging the steps of the richest man in the world. Some attribute bis conduct to a heavy wager laid on tbe other sides of the Atlantic ; otheis say it arose from the necessity of conveying instant information to the home members of the Bonanza firm should any accident happen their partner during his travels. — Dublin Freeman
