The Davis did not break one thread or needle during Contest, and made Twentytwo Varieties of Work, which were pronounced Good Quality by the Judge*. The Wertheim broke eight threads, broke two needles during contest, and made only Seven Varieties of Work, which were pronounced Medium Quality by the Judges. When the Melbourne Wertheim Expert and THE WERTHEIM MACHINE was so AWFULLY BEATEN IN MELBOURNE It is no wonder tliat Mr. Lochhead backs out of meeting the Davis in Dunedin ; but how he can face the Dunedin Public after advertising in the Dunedin papers day after day that he would meet the Davis is more than we can understand. We think he must have a conscience composed of indiarubber. We have opened an Agency for the Davis at 52, George street, and will sell the Davis on time payments of Five Shillings per Week, or for cash. Mrs Fiske, who has shown the DAVIS at the Exhibition, will teach all customers free of charge.
