Mr. Donald Stronaoh Ton behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited), reports for the week ending 22nd June, as follows :—: — Fat cattle were in good supply, 209 head having been yarded, of which 25 were dairy cattle and stores. Biddings were scarcely so brisk as last week, although quotations for prime beef show but a slight decline. Bullocks sold at from £6 7s 6d to £13, and cows £5 10s to £9. On account of Mr. Frederick Wayne we sold 10 bullocks at from £7 15s to £8 12s 6d, and on account of Mr. William Shand 17 head of cattle— bullocks at from £8 10s to £18, and cows at from £5 128 6d to £9. We quote barely 25s per 1001 b for prime beef. Fat Sheep.— lßlß head were penned, of which 78 were merinos. Competition was good, and from last week's rates to Is per head advance was obtained, cioss-breds fetching from 10s 9d to 18s, and merinos 6s to 11s. We sold a draft of cross-breds, on account of Mr. J. G. Grey, at 13s 6.1. We quote best mutton fully 3d per lb. Fat Lambs. — Thirty were offered and sold at 9s 6a. Fac Pigs. — Twenty-nine were sold at from 5s 6d to 38s each. Land.— We report sales of portion of the Kuriwao eßtate, riz., about 300 acres at £8 per acre, and about 120 acres at £6 per acre. Wool.— Public Press telegrams from day to day have continued to report an improvement in the London auctions with a firm tone, Large purchases for export have been made. "^ Sheepskins — Wa disposed of a moderate catalogue on Monday under fair competition at fully last week's prices. Butchers' ordinary cross-breds fetched from Is lid to 4s 7d ; merinos, Is 6d to 3s lid ; pelts, 3d to 8d each ; and greasy skins, in bales, at s|d per lb. Hides are in fair demand. We sold a few parcels, being all to hand at equal to late rates— say from 18s to 25s each for hides, averaging from 531 bto 691 b each, Tallow.— We report sales of ordinary quality at 245, and of rough fat at up to 16s 6d. Well-rendered tallow may be quoted up to 26s or 26s 6d per cwt. Grain. — Wheat : Values are unaltered. Prime milling is in very short supply, and would sell readily at 4s per bushel. We had an auction sale on Tuesday, at which we disposed of 354 bags as follows -.—Fair to good milling, 3s 5d to 3s lid ; inferior and fowl feed, 2s 4d to 3s, which we quote as current prices. — Oats : Supplies are still coming to hand rather slowly, Sales by auction have been made at up to 2s 2£d for prime milling. We sold yesterday publicly 499 bags at from 2s to 2s lid for feed, and 2s 2£d for milling.— Barley : We cleared several lots of barley, consisting of 365 bags feed, from Is 6d to Is 9d ; milling, 2s Id ; malting 2s sd. Prime malting is still inquired for, and would command up to 3s per bushel.
