THE LABOUR MARKET, JULY 28, 1880.

Mr. Skene reports an improved demand for all classes, and doubtless the worst is over. The town is well thinned out now as a good many country jobs are opening up. We want a good gold rush to bring wages to their proper level and to stop the miserable attempt at economy of reducing the working men's wages who are employed on our railways, who have long hours, and on whom the responsibility of life and property lies. Economy with a vengeance ! There is a good demand for farm and station people, hotel men and women, rabbitters, milkers, boys and any number of good useful girls. Wages have not changed since last week.
