Mb. Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited), reports for the week ending 21st July, as follows :—: — ' \ N Fat Cattle. — In consequence of the full supply of 245 head at Burnside to-day, the demand was not very spirited, and prices gave way to the extent of about 2d 6d per lOOlbs. Bullocks realised £7 to £10 5s per head, and cows £5 to £7 lOs 6d. Quotation for prime beef, 255, and for medium, 22s 6d per lOOlbs. Fat Calves. — Only three were offered, which sold at 52s to 56s per head. Fat Sheep were in very large supply, 3396 h>ad having been penned, consisting of 1000 merinos and 2396 cross-breds. The former description sold at from 7s 3d to 14s, and the latter at from 9s to 17s 6d per head, but a considereable number were turned out. List week's prices were not maintained by about Is to Is 6d per head. On account of Messrs J. C. Gilchrist, T. and M. Henderson, Thomas Murray, "Walter Miller, Paton, and J. and J. Sutherland, we disposed of 687 crossbreds at from 14s to 17s, and 108 merinos at 14s ; and on behalf of Messrs Smith and Vezey, of 540 merinos at 7s 3d to 8s 6d. We quote prime niuttoa barely 3d and medium 2j£d per Ib. Sheepskins. — We cleared a good catalogue with fair competition at our weekly auction on Monday, prices being well maintained. Butchers' cross-bred skins realised up to 4s 7d, and merinos 3s 4d. each. Station and full-woolled skins sold at from Is 5d to 4s lid ; pelts, 6d. Hides. — Demand unabated at onr late quotations of 3jd per lb. for wet salted, and 20s each for butchers' green hides. Tallow. — We report sales of well-rendered tallow up to 275, and of rough fat up to 18s per cwt., at which there is a fair inquiry. Grain. — Wheat : The demand for medium to prime continues good, but supplies coming to hand are not large. We repeat our quotations of last week, viz., prime milling, 3s lOd to 3s lid ; medium, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; fowl feed (nominal), 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Oats : Market continues firm. Good quality milling would fetch Is 6d without difficulty, and feed oats up to Is 5d for prime — the latter figure is, however, hardly up to holders' ideas. Barley :No improvement to report. 3s per bushel might be obtained for prime malting samples, but the bulk of this cereal in the market consists of medium quality, for which we cannot quote above 2s 6d, whereat we have made sales during the week. Mb. F. Meenan, Gieat King street, reports : — Wholesale prices : Oats, Is 4d to Is 5d per bushel ; milling wheat, 3s 6d to 3s lid per bushel ; fowls' feed, 2a to ds ; barley, feed, Is 6d to 2s per bushel : milling, 2s 6d to 2s 9d; malting, 3s 6d; pollard, £4 per ton ; bran. £3 5s per ton : flour, £9 10s to £10 per ton : hay, £3 per ton : chaff, £3 per ton : straw, £2 per ton : onions, £6 to £7 per ton, Hams, lid per lb. : bacon, lOd per lb. Fresh butter, Is 4d ; salt, lOd. Potatoes, £2 5s per ton.
