Occasional Notes .

The Aggregate Meeting of Catholics to express their sentiments Jegardmg the present lawa on education in this colony will be held in tb.3 Temperance Hall, Dunedin, on Tuesday evening next, Bth inst., at 7.30 p.m. Delegates will attend from several districts and towns throughout New Zealand. A report of the meeting held at Invercargill will be found in another column. We would impress upon Catholics residing within reach of Dunedin the necessity of being present on the evening in question. Their dearest interests are con. cemed in the business to be transacted at the meeting, and they ■hould if possible attend, not only should it suit their convenience to do fo, but even if they were obliged to undergo considerable inconvemenc*. Neither wind nor weather should interfere with their attendance; whatever may be said for the ladies, who are also earnestly invited to attend, the sterner sex should come were it to teem pitchforks. Mb. Charles McCarthy has resigned the agency of tne NZ. Tablet Company at Greymouth. The Rev. Father Hennebery commenced his mission in Brigbane, on Sunday, June Bth. We desire again to remind our readers that the Rev. Joseph OMalley, S.J., will deliver a lecture, entitled the "Wonders of Nature and Art," in the Temperance Hall, Dunedin, on Tuesday 16th inst, when a most favourable opportunity will be afforded of neanns the learned and eloquent Jesuit. All should purchase tickets m time to secure places ; they are being bought up rapidly. The weekly meeting of the Committee of the Dunedin Catholic Association was held last Monday evening. Mr. N. Smith occupied the chair in the absence of the Vice-President. The hon sec was instructed to forward the thanks of the Association to Mr *P F Damela for his excellent lecture an « Carbon," delivered before the members of the Association on the 26th inst. The hon. sec. reported that a large number of tickets for the Rev. Father O'Malley's lecture had already been sold. IN answer to several inquiries respecting » The Lady of Neville Court, we do not believe the book may be obtained in the colony though, perhaps, Mr. Macedo, of Princes street South, Dunedin! Messrs. Whitaker Bros., Lambton Quay, Wellington, or Mr. Flynn Auckland, may have a copy amongst their stock of Catholic publications. We shall resume the tale at the point we left it off at once when our present important and beautiful narration "Jesuits" is concluded We may add that about the best part of this work is yet to come The history of Pombal's murders being one of the finest things that has ever been written ; it is magnificent even in a someWhat faulty translation.
