DUNEDIN CATHOLIC ASSOCIAT ON.
A meeting of the Committee of the Dunedin Catholic Association was held during the present week. The Vice-President, Mr. A. H. Norman, in the chair. In the absence of the Secretary, Mr. J. Griffin was appointed pro tern. Mr. W. Williamson resigned his office of Assistant Librarian ; and Mr. T. Deehan was elected in his stead. The resignation of Mr. O. Fox as Hon. Secretary was accepted, h« having left for another part of the Colony, Mr. B. A. Dunne was appoiated to the vacant post. Mr. Dunne having accepted the appointment, tendered his resignation as Treasurer, to which position Mr. J. J. Connor was unanimously elected. The name of Mr. W. Clarke was added to the Committee. Mr. Griffin intimated that Mr. P. F. Daniel had kindly consented to give a private lecture in the reading loom, a few weeks hence. The offer was accepted with many thanks. The library nights were altered tt**a Tuesday and Friday to Wednesday and Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. On Tuesday morning the rooms of the Association were placed in great danger owing to the fire which was then raging in the Athenaeum. The rooms of the Association being a portion of the building, it was thought that they would have succumbed to the flames, but owing to the manly exertions of the Fire Brigade, the fire was confined to the Athenaeum itself.
