ITALY.

Rome. July 15. Fuller accounts of the Italia Irredenta meeting at Naples yesterday state that the Theatre San Nazzaro, where it was held, was crowded to excess, many persons being unable to obtain entrance. Comparisons between what Cavour would have done and what Corti has not done were freely made. Signor Imbrinni said that from the day of Novaia until now Italy has never suffered so dire a humiliation. At Villafranca a peace had been signed because the little Piedmontese army could not contend against overwhelming force. At Lissa and Custozza the national pride was wounded, but honour was saved. At Mentana isolated volunteers were beaten, but though lost, the da} r was fruitful of results which led Italy to the Capitol. At Berlin, however, she had been steeped in shame. The fatal yellow and black flag was over the whole of the Adriatic, which the Dandolo, now launched, would perhaps be forbidden to enter. Signor di Zerbi said — " Our representatives at Berlin have even forgotten that Italy has a geographical map." When Signor Marocchi sought to express opinions at variance with those uttered, he was hooted down. A voice shouted, " What kind of liberty is this 1 You have prepared a scene and chosen the theatre in which to exhibit it," but the rest wis drowned by cries of "Turn him out!" For some time the confusion was indescribable. Finally, the following resolution was proposed and voted :—: — "Inasmuch as the intrigues and tho arrogance of Congresses cannot change the boundaries placed by Nature, Italy, strong in her right and in the guardianship of her dignity, protests loudly against the foreign policy of the Government, and inscribes on the summits of the Rhfctian and Julian Alps the motto of daring Latin prudence : — ' Quod subreptum erir, cjus rei Eeterna auctoritas esta'" July 17. At Macerata and at Ravenna, demonstrations, with shouts of " Viva Trento c Trieste libera, have been made in favour of the Italia Irredenta. At Milan, Gonoa, Florence, Bologna, as here at Borne, preparations for meetings are being made. The party are about to establish a weekly organ, under the editorship of Signor Imbriani, entitled IJ ltalia degli Italiani. — Times.
