James Deming, a member of the Trojan Hooks, met with a singular accident in the truck-house lately. He had several Flobbert air-gun cartridges in his pocket, and in some manner one of the cartridges became lodged in a clay pipe in the same pocket. He took the pipe out, filled it with tobacco, not noticing the cartridge, and began smoking. Soon after the persons in the vicinity were startled by an explosion from Dealing's pipe, and upon examination found th at the ball had passed in such close proximity to his left eye as to inflict a slight wound, from which the blood flowed profusely. The ball was found in a wash-basin a short distance from where Deming sat. He will examine his pipe in future before he fills it with tobacco. — Troy Times.
