MECKLENBURG— CONVERSIONS TO THE TRUE FAITH.
-MIn the last decennial period a good many Mecklenburgers of high standing have gone over to the Catholic faith. The most notable of these are — 1. The Rittersguihesitzer (an almost untranslatable expression, signifying the owner of an estate of knightly dignity) Emil Freiher Von Bulow, a near relative of Under-Secretary Von Bulow of Berlin. He is now Provincial of the Jesuit Order at Vienna, and, as Father Emilius Bulow, was a chief witness in the proceedings against Wiesinger. Herr Von Bulow studied in Bonn and in Heidelberg- Jura, was a member of different corps, and was known as a very diligent student. He passed his first juridical examination in Prussia with distinction, and was possessor of a beautiful Hitters' estate, free from encumbrance, in the district of Eostock, worth at least two hundred thousand thalers. He entered suddenly, without any known cause, as novice, a Jestxit Convent in the Tyrol, and, as lie had no blood relations, made over his property to the Order. 2. Privy Councillor Freiherr Von Der Kettenburg, of JMatgendorf, one of the richest land proprietors of the country, and his sons are now being ediicated. by the Jesuits. 3. Von Vogelsang (Eittersgutbesitzer), formerly Prussian Assessor, now living in Bavaria. 4. Professor of Law Von Staden, who died, soon after. 5. Juridical Professor Maasen, of Eostock, now Professor at Vienna. 6. Official Assessor Freiherr Von Juckow entered into a Jesuit College in Westphalia, and is noAv on the mission in Hungary. 7. Privy Councillor Freiherr Von Juckow, Intendant of Dobberan Lake Baths. 8. Uittersgutbesitzer Von Stralendorf. He died a well-known landscape painter in Italy. 9. Freiherr Von Stein, Major in the Ministry of War at Schwerin. 10. Pastor Hager, now editor of a newspaper in Breslati. There were besides many young artists, and many old ladies, some of whom brought considerable wealth to the Church. Besides, through the immigration of strange workmen, the number of Catholics living in Mecklenburg has mounted to a considerable number. — ' Catholic Standard/
