The Christchurch Branch.
A meeting of the Christchurch Branch of the above Society was held in the Catholic schoolroom, Barbadoes street, on Thursday week last. Being a quarterly meeting night, there wat a very good muster of the members, about eighty being present, and over £60 was paid in as contributions. During the evening the Vice-President, Bro. Thomas O'Connell, on behalf of some of the members of the Branch, presented a testimonial and written address to the past President, Bro. James Taaffe, junior, as a mark of esteem and respect, and appreciation of services rendered by him in the development of the Christchurch Branch of the above Society. The testimonial consisted of a very handsome inlaid marble clock, which bore a plate, with the following inscription :— "H. A. C. B. S. Presented to Bro. James Taffe, P.P., by members of the Christchurch Branch, No. 12, 1875." The clock was procured faom the establishment of G-. Coates and Co., Colombo street, where it is now on exhibition for a few days.
