WAIRAU ELECTION.
. *-t Feom our own Correspondent. : Blenheim, Wednesday, 6.30 p.m. The returning officer made the official declaration of the poll to-day* which resulted as follows : Ward - ... ... ... 202 ! Moorhouse ... ... ... 177 Majority for Ward ... 25 The result was received with much enthusiasm, as very dishonourable tactics were resorted to by the supporters of Mr. Moorhouse, in order to prejudice Ward, who is brother-in-law to Bishop Eedwood. On the poll being declared, the Moorhouse party accused the Catholics of voting in a body for the successful candidate.
