Messrs Drives, Stewart and Co. report as follows for the week ending December l7th :—: — Fat Cattle — To-dfiy bullocks realised up to LI 2 for best pens and one pin of very prime cows brought Ll4 7s Gd. The average 'price per 1001 b, we estimate, was a shade over 255. Fat Sheep— sso of all
fl ortß were penned, and sold at the" following rates : — Say, for cross* breds in the wool, 16s to 17s each ; do shorn, 9a to 12s 3d each ; merino ewes, 5s 6d each. We quote cro9s-breds at 2£d to 2£d per lb. Fat Lambs — lls to 12s 3d for best quality ; 63 6d to 9s for second do. Store Cattle— Bullocks, from L 3 15s to L 4 10s ; cows, L 2 15s to L 3 10s. Store Sheep— We have, however, placed 1000 cross-bred ewes and wethers in the wool at from 13s to 16s ; and have also placed 2003 four-year-old ewes, at 4s. We quote half-breds worth 7s 6d to 83 ; good merino wethers, 4s 9d to si ; and full-mouthed ewes, at about 4s 5 5s 8d to 5s lOd for green cross-breds; green merinos, up to 5s 7d, Dry tkbis, at from 2s 2d to 5s §d, according to quality. Hides — At auction to-day were a shade easier. We sold 160 light to medium weights at 15s 3d to 17s 9J, and a few heavy at 22s 9d. Tallow. — None offered. Grain. -The market continues exceedingly inactive. Wheat, prime samples are quoted at 5s ; medium at 4s 6d ; inferior, 4s. Oats at 3s lid to 4s 3d, according to quality.
