(From a correspondent.), A vebi enjoyable concert, got up by Miss Donnelly and other ladie* for the beneßt of the Lyttelton Catholic Church, took l J w evening at St. Patrick's schoolroom, when there was a crowded audience, the large room being filled to> overflowing. O wing to Mr* Saw tell being unable to attend, the programme was altered elHitlv The first part opened with a piano duett, " Marche aux flumbeairr » mcely played by Miss Donnelly and Mr R. Parker. Mrs Gridlev ««I, Gounod's "Ring on sweet Angelas" very well, a slight nervoL neß f oeti acted somewhat from what was otherwise a very good rend«rm« of the piece. A quartette,. " The nightingale," by Mi* G. Haroe? ftliss Marsham, and the MesM-s Loughnan, went well, the vohjo« harmonising capitally. A septette band, comprising Messrs C Bon mngton G Bonnington, and Phillips (violin), Wood (flute), SnensW (violinceLo), West (double bass), Parker (harmonium), and E Marsham (piano), played two overtores capitally j. indeed, these wera the greatest treats of the evening. Miss Reston, who san<» ,WW gave « The old, old song » and « Willies ship," both of which were weU rendered. Mrs Gridley thea sung Gounod's song, "Guardian an Jo \" very well, and was deservedly applauded. Mr H. Loughnan eara I lie yeoman- s wedding," and the first part closed with a niano uml harmonium duett by Misf Lewis and Mr R. Parker on themes from Oberon, which was capitally played throughout, aud received a warm acknowledgment from the audience. In the second par- Mm G. Harper sang a song by Dolores, "The mill," very well and th« same may be said of Miss Donnelly's rendering of Kueken's " Twiiieht is darkening," which was er cored but not responded to Mr B, Parker, to whom the success of tho concert is mainly due, played t™ harmonium solos excellently. Two trios by Miss Marshain, Mrs G Harper, and Mr H. Loughna», concluded tho programme of a verr successful concert— the best yet given iv the schoolroom. J
