Messes Dbiter, Stewabt, and Co. report as follows for the week ending December 8 :—: — Fat Cattle. — 95 head were yarded at the Kaikorai to-day, of which 75 were sold, the balance being turned out. Although moat of the cattle offered were from good to prime quality, a further reduction in prices had to be submitted to, owing to the fact that large supplies have come to hand from private sources during the past week. We do not think that, best quality averaged more than 22s 6d per loolb3 ; second quality a< 17s 6d to 20s. It is not likely that these rates will continue long, as it will pay graziers better to hold cattle over than to Bell at the 6 e low prices. We sold by auction 50 head on account of Messrtr J. B. Andrews, Alexander Thomson, and others, and have placed 25 head privately. Fat Sheep. — About 900 were penned, one-half of which, were turned out unsold. Shorn crosa-breds brought 10s each ; ditto merinos, 7s 6d to 9s ; and we have sold 260 merino wetnera on account of George Hay, Esq , South Molynoax, at top prices. We quote best; quality crose-breds (shorn) at 2d to 3id ; merinos (do), 2J. Fat Lambs. We have sold during the week, privately, at 83 to 108 each. Store Cattle. — There is still a very good enquiry for quiet steers and heifers, at from L4 los to L 5 for the former, and L 3 to L 4 for the latter. We sold at Palmerston, on the 23th ult., 500 head of bullocks and cows afc full quotations, and have also placed 109 head in various lots. Store Sheep. — Although few transactions have taken place, there 13 a good enquiry tor cross-bred and merino wethers ; also for young merino ewed, delivered in January or Februiry.
