(Contributed ) In tub preceding number, under the above heading, a short sketch was given both of Churches and the increase of the members of the Catholic body. But hero it is desirable to be more explicit. The Cai.holic populartion of the diocese, of Melbourne can fairly be distributed iufo the following ecclesiufcticul divisions, viz : — Melbourne district, 38,t00 ; Sflnlhurst, 36,000 ; and Warnambool 36,000 j making a grand total of 182,000 ir.embers, or more than a gum of 55 per cent snico the Government, census of 1861 ; this of courio includes the relative increase oulculiitcd from the Government returns of 1871. It is scarcely neci ssary to remark that theao returns represent a Celtic populatio \.
