Miscellaneous— A biscuit-coloured Indian carpet, 12 ft. by 10 ft. with henna-coloured twig and leaf pattern in corners ; thirty coat-hangers ; twelve Id. stamps ; a Philips 100 watt frosted light bulb; a ladies’ light-fawn camel-hair overcoat, Catherine make, box style, fawn sateen lining, two buttons and two large pockets with flaps on front ; total value, £243 11s. 3d. Mostly identifiable.

Auckland. —The property of the JOINT COUNCIL OF THE ORDER OF ST. JOHN AND THE NEW ZEALAND RED CROSS SOCIETY, Bank of New Zealand Chambers, Swanson Street, a five-valve Philips mantel model broadcast radio, serial No. 1000, light gold-coloured cabinet about 24 in. by 18 in., oblong dial ; value, £l4. Identifiable. Since 16th February, 1943, the radio was on loan to R.N.Z.A.F. Hospitals at Seagrove, Mangere, and Remuera, but it cannot now be found.

Auckland.-: the 15th June last and 6th August, from a yard at Jellicoe Street, the property of MASON BROS. ENGINEERING CO., Pakenham Street, Freeman’s Bay, about four tons of dark-grey rubber-covered cable, green canvas covering, painted grey with red lead thereon, known as 19/052 TRS 18-strand cable, in lengths 9 ft. to 15 ft. suitable for scrap copper only; value, £240. Not identifiable.

Auckland. —16th August last, the property of JESSE GWYTHERM ROOD, R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Ardmore, a black soft leather overnight bag, buckle in centre and on each end, two leather handles, “J. G. Rood ” in ink on inside, containing an Agfa folding camera, takes 620 film, in light-brown leather case with shoulder-strap ; a chromatic mouth organ, German make, in light-brown case ; nine bottles of beer ; two verichrome films, size 620 ; two sets of shaving gear; a khaki towel; four packets of cigarettes; and bandages ; total value, £35 10s. Identifiable. The offence, may have been committed by a Man (name unknown) naval rating, native of England ; wearing uniform of Royal Navy. On above date while in conversation with a friend in Queen Street, complainant left his bag on the footpath. The man described joined' in the conversation for a few minutes and shortly after he left complainant was informed that the bag was missing.

Auckland. l7th August last, from a motor-car in Elliott Street, the property of ELSIE LORNA DALTON, Te Poi Matamata, and another, a brown leather suitcase about 30 in. by 15 in. by 8 in., reinforced corners, lock in centre, two nickel fasteners, two straps, brown cloth lining ; a navyblue dress with gored skirt, long sleeves, tucks in bodice, cream-coloured trimming around top, W.X. size; a ladies’ pale-pink blanket cloth dressing-gown, roll collar, lined with pink sateen, girdle of same material, W.X. size ; a ladies’ handknitted cherry-coloured cardigan, long sleeves, small cable stitch, about six large cherry-coloured buttons; a pair of ladies’ navy-blue court shoes, size 6, Red Cross brand, small tongue with floral design thereon ; a pair of ladies’ beige-coloured rayon stockings, size 10 in. ; a pair of ladies’ black feltex slippers, size 6 ; a round table-centre, about 12 in. in diameter, made up of eight crocheted medallions ; a child’s white silk crocheted bonnet and bib, with pattern of pink flowers and green leaves thereon ; a green rubber-lined bag ; a ladies’ cream-coloured fine woollen singlet, with long sleeves, Spencer brand ; a set of white twill cotton pyjamas with blue stripes, M. size ; a Gillette razor in nickel case ; a gentlemen’s blue neglige shirt with deeper blue stripes, size 4, collars to match ; a gentlemen’s blue coat-shirt, size 4; a pair of gentlemen’s fawn felt slippers, with leather soles, size 8 ; a pair of gentlemen’s navy-blue cashmere socks, darned at toes; four gentlemen’s white handkerchiefs with blue stripes; and a gentlemen’s dark worsted vest, with light-blue and fine brown stripes, dark buttons, lined with black Italian cloth, M. size ; total value, £3O 18s. Mostly identifiable.

Auckland. 4th ultimo, from a bathroom in the Peoples Palace Hotel, the property of ALFRED GEORGE PAVITT, Northern Wairoa Hotel, Dargaville, a brown leather wallet 4 in. by 6 in., folding type, three compartments, pale-green lining, containing a £SO note, No. T. 048028, personal papers and references ; total value, £sl 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —7th ultimo, from a cloak-room in Rawson’s, footwear manufacturers, 4 Hereford Street, Newton, the property of MINNIE GRACE MARY PORTER, 12 Unicorn Lane, Freeman’s Bay, a ladies’ rolled-gold Titan 15-jewel oblong wristlet watch, No. 2480, Arabic numerals, three small lines on bezel at each end ; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —On the 10th or 11th ultimo, the shop of VIOLET OLIVE HOUNSLOW, tobacconist, Palmerston Buildings, 17 Customs Street West, was broken into and the following stolen : A blade razor, with black bakelite handle, No. 34, French make ; two Bengal blade razors with white bakelite handles; two blade razors, “C. V. Heljestraid Eskilstuka ” on blade, white bone handles, Swedish make ; a Philippine half-dollar; and £7 in money; total value, £2O 18s. Identifiable except money.

Auckland. llth or 12th ultimo, from the garage of WILSON AND ROTHERY, Lunn Avenue, Mount Welilington, a white metal Senaonn lubrication gup, model 8.M.. £./ about 12 in. long and 4 in, in diameter, auto loading type. ' pistol grip, trigger release, high-pressure loading-valve, long ■ white metal delivery pipe, alemite snake connection ; and twenty-three gallons of petrol; total value, £l9 14s. Lubrication gun identifiable.

Auckland. —11th or 12th ultimo, from the shower-room at R.N.Z.A.F. No. 1 Port Depot, Remuera, the property of IVAN STANLEY WORKMAN, a gentlemen’s stainlesssteel round 17-jewel wristlet watch, pink dial, green hands and numerals, Self winding acromatic waterproof ” on back case, “I. S. Workman on inside back, grey leather wrist-strap with grey buckle ; value, £l7 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —7th ultimo, from a motor-car in Karangahape Road, the property of RICHARD KELSALL, No. 2 Royal Mail delivery, . Whangarei, a grey covered fibrecane' suitcase, 30 in. by 18 in. by 10 in., two blue leather straps, blue leather handle, corners reinforced with blue leather, lock in centre, chromium clip at each end, containing seven dresses, S.S.W. size, black, navy-blue, and pink, one with floral pattern, and one blue winter dress ; two ladies’ handknitted woollen cardigans, one navy-blue and the other red with white buttons, short sleeves ; a navy-blue woollen skirt with pleats ; three sets of ladies’ locknit underwear, S.S.W. size, and some letters and photographs ; total value, £3l. Identifiable. '

Freeman’s Bay. —l7th ultimo, from clothing in Aitchison’s Timber Factory, Spring Street, the property of WALTER RICHARDSON, 25 Lancing Road, Sandringham, a gentlemen’s gold Elgin hunting watch, white dial, black numerals, repair No. 5123 scratched on back case ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Freeman’s Bay. —On the 20th or 21st ultimo, the countinghouse of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Marine Department), Halsely Street, was broken into and the following, the property of REGINALD HENRY SCOTT, 58 Vermont Street, stolen : A five-valve mantel model broadcast radio, number probably 584, light oak stained wooden cabinet; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Huntly. Between the 24th and 26th August last, from a hut at Rotowaro, the property of ARTHUR VERtKER LLOYD, Rotowaro, a -22 calibre Winchester repeating rifle, No. 80252, model No. 62 ; value, £B. Identifiable.

Hamilton. —Between the 4th and 9th June last, from a room in the Commercial Hotel, the property of ELIZABETH ANN MORRISON, a dark-brown musquash fur coat, full length, fit woman 5 ft., large roll collar, brown crepe de Chine lining with stitching design thereon renewed near collar, two large brown buttons with small imitation mother-of-pearl button in centre of each ; value, £45. Identifiable.

Frankton Junction. 24th August last, from the clothing factory of Wilkinson and Son, the property of VIOLET GLADYS EICHSTEAD, 6 Blackburn Street, a ladies’ gold oblong Titan 15-jewel wristlet watch, about 1 in. long, goldcoloured numerals, black leather wrist-strap with gold buckle; value, £lO 10s. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by Joy Mary Mclntyre Shaw, referred to in Police Gazette, 1945, page 27, who was seen in the factory about the time the offence was committed, and who is believed to have been wearing a watch similar to that described. She has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

—Between April last and 15th ultimo, from a storeroom at the office of the Internal Affairs Department, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Internal Affairs Department), a -22 calibre Stevens Favorite rifle, No. W. 600, hammer type ; value, £1 ss. Identifiable. _ '§jk? .

Lower Hutt. —Between the 17th August last and 17th ultimo, from a caterpillar tractor, Taita Housing Scheme, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Public Works Department), a heavy cast steel hydraulic pump, painted green, made by La Plante-Choate Co., U.S.A., to fit front of caterpillar tractor and operate bulldozer blade, weight about 20 lb., projecting shaft If in. in diameter, two take-off vents for ljt in. piping, small brass plate with maker’s name thereon ; value, £7B. Lower Hutt. — August last, from a workshop, Graeefield Road, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Public Works Department), a 0-2 in. polished steel Starrett micrometer, broad arrow and “ P.W.D.” on it; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.

Lower Hutt. —Between the 7th and 17th ultimo, from houses in the course of construction at Taita, the property JOHN THOMAS HOGAN, 104 Northland Road, Wellington, a J h.p. Robbins and Myers single-phase electric motor, 230 volts, 50 cycles, 1450 R.P.M., serial number probably between 3364 and 3371 ; 200 ft. of 0.8. rimu, 3 in. by 2 in.; and seven lengths of galvanized piping, f in. in diameter total value, £27 12s. Not identifiable.

Wellington. Between the 12th and 16th August last, a dwelling at Manley Street, Paraparaumu Beach, the property of OSWALD CHETTLE MAZENGARB, 20 Sefton Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A chromiumplated General Electric toaster; a brown enamel hot-water jug, quart size, small spout, attachment for plug at bottom, a green enamel electric heater, about 15 in. by 10 in., two horizontal elements, four chromium-plated legs, hook at back; a black cast-iron semi-circular electric heater with oblong fine mesh elements ; an electric iron, flex repaired with black adhesive tape ; a bronze bedside lamp with circular base and stem, switch at top ; an electric polisher, General Electric make, fitted with four rotating brushes each about 3 in. in diameter, base about 12 in. by 4J in., small brass screw at end of handle ; a Westclox alarm-clock, about 4 in. by 4 in., round dial ; a Columbia portable gramophone, black square case, may have “ Maz ” scratched on one corner ; about fifty gramophone records ; three cream-coloured double blankets with yellow stripes ; a green and white cottage weave double bedspread ; a Kaiapoi heavy travelling rug, fawn coloured on one side, fawn and blue on the other; a Kaiapoi rug with dark and light fawn check pattern; an over-blanket for single bed with pink and fawn checks; a grey suit-coat with black flecks, of English material similar to worsted, grey silk lining, small tear in one cuff, made in England, may have “ Doyle and Kean ”on tag; a gentlemen’s grey cardigan with ribbed pattern, M. size, long sleeves, buttons on front ; a gentlemen’s chromium-plated round large wristlet watch, black leather wrist-strap; several tins of tongues, salmon, pineapple, and soup, &c. : and two coloured pillows withered and fawn stripes ; total value, about £lO5. About 27th July last, from the hostel, Dehydration Works, Motueka, the property of MARY DOROTHY KATHLEEN MECHEN, 68a Stanley Crescent, a ladies’ rolled-gold Rotary wristlet watch, No. 192274, round black dial, gold-coloured hands, repair No. 8756 X, “ M.D.K.M.” and “ 27/10/41 ” on back, black suede wrist-strap; value, £4 10s. Identifiable.

—Between the 29th July last and 27th August, from a room in the Trafalgar Hotel, the property of DOREEN SHARPE, a light-brown northern musquash fur coat, full length, swagger style, brown lining, two buttons ; a nickel round alarm clock, white dial, black Arabic numerals, two legs missing ; and about £7 in money ; total value, about £SB. Identifiable except money.

Christchurch. ultimo, from the rear of a dwelling at 8 Hanmer Street, the property of DOUGLAS ARTHUR RAIT, a 1938 model Velocette motor-cycle, black with chromium-plated facings, engine No. M.S.S. 2817, regis-tration-plates No. 28,708, 1945-46 license No-. 11065 value, £IOO. Dunedin. —10th August last, from a lounge in the Prince of Wales Hotel, Princes Street, the property of DONALD EMERSON MONSON, United States Navy, an Ensign folding camera, covered with black leatherette, takes 120 film, probably f. 3-5 lens, “ 5 ” scratched near winder, takes eight, twelve, or sixteen exposures on a film, in brown pebblegrained leather case the lock of which is broken ; value, £3O. Identifiable. The offence may have been committed by Stephen Francis Llewellyn Neary, referred to in Police Gazette, 1945, age 658, and Photographs, 1932, page 52, who was in the lounge about the time the offence was committed with Elizabeth Pearl Stobie, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 964, and Photographs, 1939, page 85, and Andrew McGuinall Brown stobie, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 964, and Photographs, 1939, page 74. The latter alleges that Neary had the camera in his possession when they left the hotel. Neary has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.
