Forged Bank-notes (see Police Gazette, 1945, pages 370 and 385) Wellington. A forged £1 note, No. 6/M 505296, was received by each of the following firms on the dates mentioned : Farmers’ Trading Co., Hobson Street, Auckland, 16/5/45 ; George Glenny Webb, storekeeper, Mairangi Bay, Auckland, 19/5/45; and R. Chesney and Co., 51 Queen Street, Auckland, 21/5/45 (this latter note was tendered in payment of luncheon sausage, value 3d., by a Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, round face ; wearing a tweed overcoat of brown mixture (no hat) ). Police Identification-card lost Timaku. — On the 4th ultimo, Constable Geoffrey Horace Vernon Carter (No. 3523) lost his identification-card in Christchurch. Members of the Force are to be on the alert to recover it. The card was in a leather folder with a £5 note and a three-gallon petrol coupon, No. 12.
