Auckland. —25th January last, for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £lO, the property of Frederick Searle Guzzwell, 44 Coronation Street, Spreydon, Christchurch, Clifford Keane (name probably fictitious), of whom no description is available. The bicycle was stolen from the Newmarket Swimming Baths and later the same day it was pledged with a pawnbroker in Hobson Street by a man who gave the name referred to above. No warrant.
Rotorua. Bth August, 1940, on warrant for failing to enrol in the General Reserve, Frederick Edward Martin Bellroy-Wiliiam, alias Eddie Martin, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 11 in., actor and producer, native of England, strong stout build, fresh ruddy complexion, fair hair going bald, brown eyes; usually dressed in a brown sports coat, grey trousers, tan shoes, and brown hat. There is also a summons for failing to register (Social Security Act) to be served on him. , &>[s
Wellington. —lsth March last, for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Louis James Egen, referred to in Police Gazette, 1943, page 486, and Photographs, page 58. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer, and his arrest isuclesired. . . ' Mp/it
Christchurch. —10th March last, for indecently assaulting Kathleen Margaret Jackson, nurse, Cashmere Sanatorium, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height about 6 ft., soldier, medium build, fair complexion and hair ; wearing battledress. While complainant was walking along a track between St. Martin’s and the sanatorium at about 7.15 p.m. on above date, the man described attacked her, threw her on the ground, and committed the offence. No warrant.
Dunedin. —lsth or 16th February last, for theft of a quantity of cutlery (recovered), value £4 Is. 6d., the property of the Punga Croquet Club, Ross Street, Roslyn, L. Marshall (name probably fictitious), age about fifty-five, height about 5 ft. 10 in., station hand, stout build, dark complexion ; wearing a leather coat and felt hat. The cutlery was stolen from complainant club’s pavilion and subsequently the same quantity of similar cutlery was recovered from a second-hand dealer in King Street to whom it had been sold on 16th February last by the man described. He may be identical with L. H. Marshall, referred to in Police Gazette, 1945, page 247., No warrant. Dunedin. —16th March last, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Vera Davies, 56 Carroll Street, and two children, Bert Alexander Davies, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion,, wavy fair hair, greenish-grey eyes, long nose, protruding ears, mole on back of neck ; frequents billiard-rooms and hotels. , /A///V«sr.
