Auckland. lßth ultimo, from the dwelling of EDITH ELIZABETH MYRTLE McANDREW, 26 Lawrence Street, Herne Bay, a ladies’ gold,watch (recovered); a ladies’ rolledgold, square wristlet watch, winder missing; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold dress ring, set with an oval opal about 4 in. long in claw setting ; and a pair of 9 ct. gold cuff-links, dumb-bell shape on one end anti representation of map of Tasmania on other end ; total value, £2B ss. The offence may have been committed by James Webber (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 10 in., native of New Zealand, thin build, dark complexion and hair, natural teeth, wearing a dark suit, who on 18th ultimo pledged the recovered watch with a pawnbroker in Hobson Street.

Hamilton. —Between August, 1013, and 10th July last, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a *303 calibre Short Magazine LeeEnfield service rifle. Nos. 2103 and 241885; and a bayonet, No. 2102; total value, £lB 2s.'9d. Identifiable. The rifle was on issue to the local Home Guard, but it cannot now be found.

Otorohanga. —Between the 6th July, 1943, and 20th June last, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -300 calibre Springfield (U.S. Service rifle), 1903 model, butt No. 934, body No. 3007832 ; value, £l6 7s. 6d. Identifiable. The rifle was on issue to the .local Home Guard, but it cannot/now be found. Gisborne. —3lst August last or Ist September, from the dwelling of ERICA POULGRAIN, 134 Fox Street, a black Sheaffer’s fountain-pen with “ E. Poulgrain ” engraved on it; a navy-blue leather handbag, about 10 in. by 8 in., two compartments, knob fastener ; a diary covered with brown leather, “E. Poulgrain ”on it; a black comb ; and about £3 in money ; total value, £5 17s. 6d. Portion identifiable.

Wellington.— llth or 12th August last, from the shop of QUILLARS LTD., photographic dealers, 42 Mercer Street, a Univex 8 mm. photographic projector, about 12 in. high, black finish, model No. 250 P.B, serial number believed P.E. 182, operates on 210-240 volts, fitted with 100 watt lamp; and a pair of black Pinto and Iverson prismatic binoculars, 8 x 25 magnifications, separate focusing, in brown leather case total value, £4l 10s.
