PROPERTY STOLEN

- ♦- Auckland. — Between the 10th May last and 22nd June, from the R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Hobsonville, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Air Department), a bright-metal stop watch, black hands, white dial with black and blue marks on it indicating seconds; a black metal aircraft clock, about 2| in. in diameter and 2£ in. deep, black dial, “ A.M.” on it; and two pairs of Wilson antiglare glasses with dark lenses, leather protectors on each side of lenses, black flexible sides ; total value, £l9 15s. Identifiable except glasses.

Auckland. — 18th May last, from the dwelling of HUBERT JOSEPH LICHTENSTEIN, 82 Almorah Road, Epsom, a necklace of graduated cultured pearls, 17 in. long, largest pearl about size of a small pea, knot in thread about eight or nine pearls from each end, oblong clasp about | in. long value, £2O ; a black leather wallet of fold-over type, about 4 in. square with note compartment and two stamp compartments ; about twelve foreign coins including an American half-dollar and a Fijian penny ; a mottled-green Conway Stewart fountain-pen, end of lever broken; and £l7 10s. in money ; total value, £4O 15s. Identifiable except money.

Auckland.— Between the 30th June last and 6th ultimo, the property of FRANK WILFRED PETTIE, Astrolabe Road, Avondale, a 1934 model Austin 10 motor-car eight-day clock, Lucas or Smith make, black dial, white numerals; a grey reversible travelling rug with red and white stripes, “ F. W. Pettie ”in black thread on one corner ; a barrel-shaped tire gauge, about 4 in. long ; and an Austin motor-car pump, painted black, about 18 in. long; total value, £8 10s. Portion identifiable. Complainant’s motor-car was unlawfully removed from Great North Road, Point Chevalier, on 30th June last, and when recovered in Haslett Street, Eden Terrace, on 6th ultimo, it was discovered that the property described had been stolen.

Auckland.— lst ultimo, from the dwelling of RUSSELL SMITH, 110 Shackleton Road, Mount Eden, a gentlemen’s nickel wristlet watch, about 1 in. by £ in., white dial with black Roman numerals, black leather wrist-strap ; a white and dark blue oval badge which is a representation of a N.Z. Engineers’ hat-badge, about size of a florin, gold letters ; and a 10s. note with “ Sel. 25/12/43 ” in ink pencil on back ; total value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. the Bth December last, from the armoury at the Seddon Memorial Technical College, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -303 calibre Short Magazine Lee-Enfield drill rifle, striker removed, 2 in. white band painted around butt; and a bayonet of latest type, 8 in. long, No. 36419, to fit rifle No. 4, Mk. I, maker’s No. 25L2245 ; total value, £1 Bs. 3d. Identifiable.

Auckland. —'7th ultimo, from the dwelling of NATHALIE HAWK, 14 Morvern Road, Epsom, a gold engagement ring, set with three diamonds in straight claw setting, value £3O ; a ladies’ gold dress ring, set with a sapphire in centre with a diamond on each side of it in crossover setting, diamond chip in band on each side of setting, value £2O ; a gold old wedding ring ; a gold narrow bar brooch, about 2 in.. long, set with two imitation pearls and a blue stone; a gold fine chain necklet with three sets of amethysts and pearls pendent; and a gold chain with gold pendant of two emeralds attached to small gold bar with flower design on each side of bar; total value, £56 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —Bth or 9th ultimo, from a 1939 model Morris 8 motor-car near Camp Orford, Manurewa, the property of SHORTERS RENTAL MOTORS, Shortland Street, five pressed-steel wheels, painted black, each fitted with one of the following 450 by 17 tires and tubes : A Firestone, serial No. 5921983; a Michelin, serial No. M.E.D. 15632; a Michelin, serial No. C.E.X. 96023; a Michelin, serial No. C.E.X. 89557 ; one (make unknown); and five tubes ; two tires recently recapped ; total value, £52 10s. Tires identifiable.

Auckland. —lsth or 16th ultimo, from a room in the Peoples Palace, Queen Street, the property of CAVELL DAVID WESTLAKE, Ruawai, a gentlemen’s nickel 15-jewel wristlet watch, luminous dial with “ Non Magnetic ” thereon, purchased in Canada, brown leather wrist-strap ; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Mount Eden. — ultimo, from a cloak-room in the Orange Hall, Newton Road, the property of PHYLLIS MORRIS-JONES, 49 Konini Road, One Tree Hill, a ladies’ fawn camel-hair overcoat, S.S.W. size, lined with fawn shotsilk, tie belt, inverted pleat at back ; and a red triangular scarf with white spots ; total value, £ll ss. Identifiable.

Huntly. —On the Bth or 9th ultimo, the shop of HARRY MEYER, draper, Main Street, was broken into and the following stolen : Eight pairs of ladies’ Peccary gloves in cream, navy-blue, black, brown, and tan colours, white stitching on back of some ; two. pairs of ladies’ navy-blue calf-skin gloves with white zig-zag stitching on back; a pair of ladies’ navy-blue skin gloves ; a pair of ladies’ black skin gloves ; two pairs of ladies’ black fabric gloves with white stitching on back (all in sizes from 61 to 7) ; £6 15s. in money ; and a certificate of registration for a rifle, No. 381098, in complainant’s name; total value, £3O 12s. Identifiable except money.

Hamilton. 3oth ultimo, from the dwelling of the Rev. HENRY GEORGE GILBERT, 4 Te Aroha Street, a 9 mm. calibre Mauser automatic pistol, No. 2859, 1918 model; value, £lO. Identifiable.

Hamilton. —3rd or 4th instant, from the club house, Karapiro Road, the property of the CAMBRIDGE GOLF CLUB, two grey metal electric heaters, about 1 ft. square, each on four legs about 2 in. high, round metal elements, white switch on front, about 36 in. of flex and three-pin plug attached; two copper electric radiators, about 18 in. by 12 in., each on legs about 2 in. high, porcelain elements, handle on back of each, about 5 yards or 6 yards of flex with three-pin plug attached; five kapoc cushions of various shapes, one covered with gold-coloured satin, one with cottage weave of green and brown mixture, two with cottage weave with green and brown stripes, and one with green material similar to that used for side curtains ; a couch squab, filled with flock or kapoc, about 6 ft. by 2 ft. and about 4 in. thick, covered with brown cotton matterial, probably button type; a cane chair, about 36 in. high, round seat of closely woven diamond pattern, open check woven pattern on back ; three dessert . knives with square yellow bone handles ; about thirty teaspoons, some E.P.N.S. ; a tinopener ; about thirty cups including some of New Zealand make ; about forty-eight saucers, mostly white with goldcoloured clover-leaf on them ; ten dinner plates, some white with blue borders ; three half-pint milk jugs, two white with dark-blue band about £ in. wide near top, and the other cream colour with spray of orange-coloured flowers on side ; a quart size red enamel teapot; and a brownish mottled earthernware teapot ; total value, about £29 17s. Portion identifiable.

Rotorua. Between the 10th and 24th ultimo, from the staff quarters of the Kia Ora private hospital, the property of MARGARET DUANE, nurse, a ladies’ gold Titan wristlet watch, white imitation mother-of-pearl dial, black numerals, gold-coloured hands, black ribbon wrist-band; value, £6. Identifiable.

Gisborne. —Between the Ist March last and 13th ultimo, from the aerodrome, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Air Department), two black metal eightday aircraft clocks, about 3 in. by 3 in., black dials with “ Civil ” and “ Date ” on them, three sets of luminous numerals 5 to 60, 2 to 24, and 5 to 30, winder near bottom of dial, “ Contract No. 84100, U.S.S.C., No. 88C590, M.F.R.S. Part No. C.D.1.A.” and “ Waltham Watch Co.” on back of each ; total value, £9O. Identifiable.

Waiouru. —Between March last and 21st ultimo, from the military camp, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), four pressed-steel wheels from Ford ambulances, painted khaki, three fitted with 600 by 16 Tru-test de Luxe tires with “ N.Z.”, broad arrow, and “ D.” on them, and tubes, and the other fitted with a 700 by 17 Firestone Heavy Duty tire and tube; and eight pressed-steel wheels from Chevrolet trucks, painted khaki, three fitted with 700 by 20 Goodrich Speedliner Silvertown tires and tubes, four fitted with 700 by 20.U.5. Royal Fleetway tires and tubes, and the other fitted with a 32 by 6 Dominion Royal High Pressure tire and tube ; total value, £360. Identification doubtful.

Woodville. —29th June last, from the shop of BERNICE GERTRUDE BAKER, McLean Street, £l6 10s. in money; a quantity of tobacco and cigarettes of various brands ; a box of Repeater cigarette-papers; and a box of chocolates; total value, £32 16s. Not identifiable.

Featherston. —Between the 15th and 17th ultimo, from the Prisoner-of-War Camp, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -38 calibre six-chambered Smith and Wesson revolver, No. 2412; a web waist-belt; a web pistol-case; a pistol ammunitionpouch ; ten rounds of -380 calibre ammunition ; a cleaningrod ; and a lanyard; total value, £8 9s. 7d. Revolver identifiable.

Greymouth. —On the 27th ultimo, the shop of ASHBY BERGH, AND CO., Mawhera Quay, was broken into and the following stolen : A 12-gauge double-barrel hammerless Liege shot-gun, No. 202/2; a -303 calibre B.S.A. Lee-

Enfield sporting rifle, body and barrel No. P.B. 4902, stock SQ/b//th No. 11781, bolt No. 46693, fore-end and stock shortened; four thousand five hundred and fifty rounds of -22 calibre Remington long ammunition ; a green canvas rucsac ; and two packets each containing fifty rounds of 12-gauge black smokeless (No. 5 shot) C.A.C. cartridges; total value, £4O 2s. 9d. Gun and rifle identifiable. ’■

Christchurch. Bth ultimo, from the dwelling of STANLEY LEONARD HALL, 428 Gloucester Street, £3O in money; a ladies’ gold Titan wristlet watch, Arabic numerals, engraved dial, gold expanding wrist-band; a ladies’ gold Unicorn wristlet watch (not in working order), Arabic numerals, no wrist-band; a gentlemen’s gold oblong wristlet watch with round dial, leather wrist-strap ; an 18 ct. gold dress ring, set with a ruby and two diamonds ; and three packets of Capstan cigarettes ; total value, £63 12s. 3d. Identifiable except money and cigarettes.
