Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). 22nd ultimo, on warrant, for deserting from the ship “ Capetown Castle,” Roy William Kennett, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., steward and calender boy, native of England, medium build.

Auckland. Bth January last, on warrant for "failing to report to the Army for medical examination when notified so to do, David McDonald, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., seaman, native of Scotland, strong build, fair complexion and hair, front upper teeth missing, tattooed on left forearm, fond of drink; dressed in a blue suit and shirt with open neck (no hat).

Auckland. —15th January last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £4 fine and costs for having intoxicating liquor in his possession in the vicinity of a dance-hall, Frank Berry, age twentyeight, height 5 ft. 7 in., cook, cleaner, and labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, fair hair, blue eyes ; wearing a green sports coat with white stripes. He may be identical with Francis McGregor Berry, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 763.

Auckland. 2nd ultimo, on warrant for a breach of his probation (Crimes Amendment Act, 1910), Thomas Poa, alias Kllkl Karena, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 740, and Photographs, 1939, page 33. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer. _ / /✓ / .

Hamilton. —Bth January las't, cm warrant for failing to report for service with the armed forces when notified so to do, John William Winder, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., jockey, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; usually dressed in a dark striped suit and green felt hat. .

Hamilton. — the 24th ultimo, for forgery, C. Douglas, age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, medium complexion, dark hair and small moustache, round features ; dressed in a navy-blue serge coat, air-force blue trousers, dark-green felt hat, and black shoes; good appearance. On above date he called at the home of Francis Reginald Cahir, 15 Winter Street, and represented that he had complainant’s authority to obtain three cheque-forms which were on the Bank of New South Wales, Hamilton, Nos. 892351-53. He was given the forms, and was permitted to use complainant’s office in the house where he apparently filled in one or more of them. On the 26th ultimo he called at the shop of Cleary’s Ltd., mercers, Victoria Street, for the purpose of purchasing some clothes in payment of which he tendered one of the cheques, No. 892351, which had been filled in for £39 10s. in favour of C. Douglas, and to which the signature F. R. Cahir had' been forged. While the manager was making some inquiries regarding the cheque offender disappeared. The photograph of Clifford Douglas Keane, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 193, and Photographs, 1935, page 58, has been identified as that of Douglas. Keane may be accompanied by his wife, Joyce Kathleen Keane, age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., good build, medium complexion, dark hair, round face, good appearance ; dressed in a black dress, pink coat, black shoes, and black felt hat with perforated turned-up brim, and she may be wearing a pink dress and pink hat. Invercargill. —sth January last, on warrant for false pretenceKM 1) Robert Emmett Blirrowes, age forty, height 5 ft. 8J in., sliare-salesman, native of - New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, short nose, scar on left forefinger, on crown of head, and on right calf. (See Police Gazette, 1942, page 154, and Photographs, 1937, page 32.) (2) Stanley Hammond, age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 6 in., native of New Zealand, thin build, fresh complexion, brown hair, small round face, sometimes has a small moustache. He is a brother of John Reynolds Hammond, referred to in Police Gazette, 1942, page 51, and Photographs, 1938, page 87, whose photograph in profile strongly resembles offender. On above date they called on James Munro, 132 Elies Road, and gave a demonstration of the cleaning of used motor oil by a powder and they represented that they were forming a syndicate for the purpose of promoting a company to carry on the work. They obtained £IOO from complainant by falsely representing that they had been sent by Walter Leonard Hughes, company-promotor, Christchurch, to advise complainant to invest at least £IOO in the venture. Blirrowes is now said to be living at Douglas Court, Baden Street, Coogee, Sydney (Australia), and Hammond is believed to have left Auckland recently for Sydney by flying boat.
