THE EMERGENCY RESERVE CORPS REGULATIONS 1941, AMENDMENT NO. 1.

Pursuant to the Emergency Regulations Act, 1939, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make' the following regulations.
REGULATIONS. 1. These regulations may be cited as the Emergency Reserve Corps Regulations 1941, Amendment No. 1, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Emergency Reserve Corps Regulations 1941* (hereinafter referred to as the principal regulations).

2. Regulation 2 of the principal regulations is hereby amended by inserting in subclause (2), in their appropriate alphabetical order, the following definitions :
“ ‘ “ All clear ” signal ’ means a signal given by sounding a siren or whistle operated by steam, air, or electricity continuously for about two minutes at a constant pitch, or by tolling a bell or ringing a hand-bell continuously for about two minutes ; and includes a similar signal given by any other means approved by the Minister : “ * Emergency warning signal ’ means a signal given by sounding a siren or whistle operated by steam, air, or electricity, or tolling a bell, or blowing a hand-whistle, for a succession of intermittent periods each of about ten seconds’ duration, separated by silent periods each of about five seconds’ duration, the whole signal having a duration of about two minutes ; and includes a similar signal given by any other means approved by the Minister : “ ‘ Period of emergency ’, in respect of any locality, means the period between the giving of an emergency warning signal in that locality and the giving of an ‘ all clear ’ signal in that locality.” 3. The principal regulations are hereby amended by inserting, after Regulation 7, the following headings and regulations : “ Warning Signals and Periods of Emergency^ “ 7a. (1) Subject to any general or special directions given by the Minister, the Chairman of the central committee of any emergency precautions service may cause emergency warning signals and ‘ all clear ’ signals to be given in such localities and at such times as he thinks fit, whether because an emergency has arisen or is thought to have arisen or is expected to arise, or for the purposes of any trial or training, or otherwise.
“ (2) No person who is not duly authorized in that behalf shall cause or permit any emergency warning signal or any ‘ all clear ’ signal to be given, or shall cause or permit the making of any noise or the giving of any signal or the doing of any other act that is intended or likely to be mistaken for an emergency warning signal or an * all clear ’ signal.
“ (3) Without limiting the meaning of the term ‘ emergency ’ as hereinbefore defined, it is hereby declared that for the purposes of these regulations an emergency shall be deemed to exist during any period of emergency within the meaning of these regulations. “ Exercise of Powers during Emergencies or for Trials or Training. “7b. Subject to any general or special directions given by the Minister, and to the orders and instructions of all officers or other persons set over them, the officers and members of any branch of the Corps may exercise their powers and functions and perform and be required to perform their duties in such localities and at such times (whether during periods of emergency or otherwise) as may be considered necessary or expedient, whether because an emergency has arisen or is thought to have arisen or is expected to arise, or for the purposes of any trial or training, or otherwise.” T.
