Queen Street Wharf (Auckland).— sth ultimo, on warrant for deserting from the ship “ Capetown Castle,” Thomas S. Maben, age seventeen, seaman, native of England. £//'<> /«&■

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). —17th July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £l4 arrears on a maintenance order made under the Maintenance Orders (Facilities for Enforcement) Act, for the support of his wife, who is ! in England, David Hook, seaman.' He is a member of the crew of the sM p “ Piri ” /s/w/^f/.

Auckland. —4th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £4 14s. fine and costs for recklessly driving a motor-cycle, Victor William Sayer, age twenty- height 5 ft. 9 in., seaman, native of New. Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, ginger hair, some left fingers missing. He left this Dominion as a member of the crew of the ship “ Awatea ” on the 14th August last. fcU/Uf/^Z.

Auckland. -19th August last, for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £2, the property of George Hill, 77 Meola Road, Point Chevalier, G. Meade (name probably fictitious), age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, fair complexion and hair ; wearing a light suit coat and black jersey with polo neck (no hat). The bicycle was stolen from the grounds of the Public Hospital, and on the 21st August last it was sold to a cycle-dealer in Ponsonby Road by th man described above. No warrant. Auckland. 22nd'ultimo, that he may be l located and interviewed regarding the maintenance ‘of his illegitimate child, David Lindsay McGregor, 1 in the care of the Education Department, Gilbert William Jackson, age thirty, height 5 ft. 11 in., seaman, native of Canada, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; bird and “ California ” on right upper arm. Arrears to 28th July last, £l3 7s. (See Police Gazette, 1941, page 325.) .

Auckland. —llth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £54 6s. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his three children, William Daubney, referred to sin Police Gazette, 1940, page 556, and Photographs, 1925, page 81. ’ He may be released on payment of £2O. The warrant is not to be executed if he is a member of the armed forces.

Auckland. —l3th August last, for false pretences, A. J. Gilmer, age about forty-two, height about 5 ft. 2-J in., medium build, fair complexion; wearing a grey suit and felt hat; quiet disposition. Accused obtained £4 15s. cash from Gordon Clive Moses, seedsman, 263 Karangahape Road (to whom he stated that he was “ Gilmer, the jockey ”) by means of a valueless cheque for £7, No. B. 810406, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Newton, in-favour of “ Bearer” and signed “ A. J. Gilmer,” which he tendered in payment of a bucket-pump, value £2 55., and which he requested to be delivered to what lias proved to lie a fictitious address. The handwriting on the cheque is similar to that of Leslie John Alfred Walters, referred to ill Police Gazette, 1941, page 660, and Photographs, 1939, page 74, and following paragraph. Paeroa. 2sth August last, for false pretences, A. C. Bowen, age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 5 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair, blue eyes ; wearing a light gaberdine raincoat and dark suit; speaks quietly. Accused obtained £7 cash from Gladys Bernice . Fagan, cashier, Farmers’ Trading Co., by means of a valueless cheque for that amount, drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Paeroa, signed “A. C. Bowen ” and dated 25th August, 1941. He agreed to purchase an electric iron and toaster, and stated that he would return later and'pay for them. The handwriting on the cheque and the description of the offender is similar to that of Leslie Alfred John Walters, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 660, and Photographs, 1939, page 74, and preceding paragraph, whose photograph complainant has identified as that of accused. No warrant.

Te Awamutu. —For escaping from Waikeria Borstal Institution on the 20th ultimo, Richard Humphreys, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 328, and Photographs, page24 '

Gisborne.— lßth July last, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Sarah Smythe, care of Royal Hotel, Samuel Smythe, age forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of Eire, thin build, fresh complexion, sandy hair, right thumb missing; usually dressed in sports coat and trousers; slovenly manner ; fond of drink. Arrears to 30th June last, £l4 2s. When arrested he may be brought before the nearest Court presided over by a Magistrate. (See Police Gazette, 1935, page 42.)

New Plymouth. l6th ultimo, on warrant to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and child, Harry White, alias Jim Murray, referred to in Police Gazette, 1941, page 474, and Photographs 1940, page 40.
