Devonport.- About November last, from a hut at Narrow Neck Military Camp, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -303 rifle, No. 1381 L., Mk. 111, bolt and body No. 102 M., “ 221 ” on brass plate, web sling attached ; value, £8 3s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —2nd ultimo, from a room in the Glenalvon Private Hotel, Waterloo Quadrant, the property of JOYCE MARIA WHITE, 114 Francis Avenue, St. Albans, a blue imitation leather suit-case; a pair of ladies’ suede shoes; a pair of green slacks; a bread-knife; and a black leather handbag, &c.; total value, £9. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), ago about thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair complexion, lightbrown hair, light-coloured eyes; dressed in a light-brown suit, good appearance.

Hamilton.— During the night of 22nd-23rd December last, from a paddock in River Road, the property of JOYCE ANNETTE JACKSON, 390 Victoria Street, a dark chestnut gelding, rising nine years, about 14-1 hands, white stockings on each hind leg, right fetlock white, white star on forehead, mane had been clipped but allowed to grow again, tail down to hocks ; value, £l2. Rotax standard electric drill with cast aluminium cylinder body, pistol-grip with trigger-switch in grip, key-type chuck, Rotax brand on each side of body and on hand-grip ; value, £lO 7s. 6d. Palmerston North. ROBERT HENRY WILSON, 14a Grey Street, a Scotch terrier bitch, black with two rust-coloured patches on hind legs near belly, five months old, answers to name “ Glen ” ; value, £5 ss. Identifiable.

Levin. — On or about the 12th October last, from the dwelling of WILLIAM GEORGE BENNING, Ohau, a gentlemen’s 18 ct. or 22 ct. gold hunting dress watch with Roman numerals, tip of large hand broken, “ Liverpool ” on dial, “ W.G.8.” in circle on outside of ease; an 18ct. or 22 ct. cable watch-chain, attached to middle was a guinea piece, dated 1778 (or a date near that), King George 111 mint; and a silver match-box with “ W.G.8., 24/6/1915” on it; total value, £39. Identifiable. The property was missed on the 18th October last, but it is possible that it had been stolen some weeks previously to that date.

Between the 24th and 27th December last, the dwelling of MABEL BALLS, 18 Crawford Road, was broken into and the following stolen: A gold bar brooch about 1J in. long by f in. wide with rounded ends, set with a pearl and two rubies or a ruby and two pearls in straight line, chased design on bar; a plain silver ring with blue enamel on outside; a woman’s head cameo ring with silver shank; and a silver ring, set with an opal in millgrain setting ; total value, £l2. Identifiable.

Queenstown. — Since the year 1933, the property of THOMAS McLEAN, railway porter, Ealing, a -303 M.L.E. magazine rifle, Mk. I c/14, No. 602, body and barrel No. 7081 ; value, £4. Identifiable. McLean states that he sold the rifle in 1933 to some person whose name he cannot remember, and that the transfer was legally arranged, but there is no record of the change of ownership.
