PROPERTY STOLEN.

Balmoral. —Between the 25th August and Ist September last, from the dwelling of CHARLES GALLIE, 45 Queen’s Avenue, a gentlemen’s gold hunting pocket watch with Roman numerals, engraved on both sides; a 15 ct. gold fetter-and-oval watch-chain, similar to illustration No. 21 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 2; and a round gold medal about size of a sovereign ; total value, £l2. Watch and medal identifiable. ' •

Auckland.— On the 13th October last, the dwelling of REV. RICHARD GODFREY, St. Columba Vicarage, Surrey Crescent, was broken into and the following stolen: A folding vest-pocket Arem camera with Kershaw anistigmatic lens, metal work ducoed brown; a silver pyx in form of a round silver box about 2 in. in diameter and \ in. deep, silver ring at side, embossed with a crown of thorns and a cross, contained in a heart-shaped gold-coloured silk bag ; and £1 12s. 6d. in money total value, £9 18s. 6d. Identifiable except money.

Auckland.— Between the 23rd August last and the 11th October, the dwelling of RICHARD HAROLD LARSEN, Brookby, Manurewa, was broken into and the following stolen : A French telescope in one piece about 3 ft. long, 2| in. lens, eyepiece resoldered ; and a pair of black English field-glasses ; total value, £9. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Richard Noel Frank Campbell, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 901, and Photographs, 1939, page 40, who was seen on complainant’s property. He has been interviewed, and he denied the offence.

Auckland. — l7th September last, from a room in the Vynes Boardinghouse, St. Martin’s Lane, the property of WILLIAM THOMAS EDWARD FOX, 5 De Luen Avenue, Point Chevalier, a leather suit-case, 36 in. by 24 in. by 7 in., leather handle and two straps ; a gentlemen’s single-breasted navy-blue nap overcoat, size 4, purchased from Newton Outfitters, Ltd., Karangahape Road ; a two-piece navy-blue suit, size 4, “ Davy Jones, Sydney,” on inside breast pocket; a two-piece navy-blue suit, size 4, made by Union Tailors, Karangahape Road ; a two-piece medium grey worsted suit with prominent black dots in material, “ Zink and Sons, Sydney ” on inside coat ; a two-piece black serge suit with white pin stripes, size 4, “ J. J. Blackburn, Park Street, Sydney ” on inside breast pocket ; a gentlemen’s white silk scarf, 36 in. square ; four waiter’s coats, size 4, one white and the others white with blue lapels and cuffs, complainant’s name in ink on them, and “ Murdoch, Sydney ” on tag ; a chromiumplated yacht with three sails on chromium-plated base, about 20 in. high and 12 in. long; and a blue plush case containing a pair of gentlemen’s hair-brushes with chromium backs and a clothes-brush to match, with “Bill” on it; total value, £44 19s. 6d. Identifiable except scarf. Suspicion is attached to Charles James Devine, referred to in Police Gazette/ 1940, P a <n/ 710, and Photographs, 1939, page 69. He is ' usually well dressed, is fond of women and liquor, and frequently tries to borrow money. He was boarding at a house next to the Vynes under the name J. Auckland.— October last, from the warehouse of R. H. EXTON AND CO., 15 Elliott Street, twenty dirndls (ladies’ frocks) of various colours, elastic waist of multi colours, open at neck with three coloured buttons, two breast pockets, short sleeves with clastic cuffs, edge of collars, pockets, and cuffs trimmed with different coloured material, sizes 14, 16, and 18; total value, £l2 10s. Identifiable by small white ticket which is marked “ XlOls ” and pinned to collars.

Auckland. Between the 14th September and 23rd October last, from the dwelling of WILLIAM HAWKINS, 25 Tawhiri Road, Onehunga, a gentlemen’s nickel-plated open-face Swiss Moeris pocket watch, similar to illustration No. 4 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 1 ; a 15 ct. gold fetter-and-oval watch-chain (similar to illustration No. 21 in Police Gazette. 1911, page 2), attached to which is a gold heartshaped locket containing photographs; total value, £ll. Identifiable.

Auckland.— During October last, . from a dwelling at 12 Huntly Avenue, Grafton, the property of HESTER VIOLET MARTIN, a ladies’ round gold wristlet watch with gold-coloured dial, black Roman numerals, minute hand missing, Martin and a number may be scratched on inside of back case, black silk ribbon band ; and £1 1 Is. 6d. in money; total value, £6 Us. 6d. Watch identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Olive Muriel Goodwin, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 440, and Photographs, 1926, page 98, who also lived at the above-mentioned address. She has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Auckland. lst July last, the property of EDWARD NICHOLAS DARGAN, McDonald Mine, Huntly, a Mazzini piano-accordion, No. 101, yellow with silvery-blue finish and red facings, 120 bass, cigarette-burn oil top right corner of keyboard, top of one key missing ; value, £3O. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Joseph Tainui, alias Joe Gildo, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 736, and Photographs, 1939, page 68, who was given the piano-accordion at Waingaro Landing by complainant to whom it was to be delivered at Huntly a few days later. Tainui has been interviewed, but denied that he was the person to whom the instrument was given.

: Auckland. 23rd September- last, from the garage of WILSON AND ROTHERY, Panmurc Road, Mount Wellington, a set of stocks and dies with Whitworth thread ; a primus blow-lamp; several pin-punches ; a hand-drill a drill-stand and drills ; several files ; a tube repairing outfit; and a set of expanding reamers in light varnished wooden box, sizes about £ in. to 1£ in.; total value, £3O. Mostly identifiable.

Otahuhu. —21st October last, from the dwelling of JOHN TERRY MUELLER, Sylvia Park, Westfield, a gentlemen’s nickel open-face wristlet watch of oblong shape, luminous dial, black leather wrist-band ; value, £2 15s. Identifiable.

Papakuba. —lßth August last, from a hut at Papakura Military Camp, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -303 calibre small magazine Lee Enfield service rifle, No. 24249 ; value, £4 4s. Identifiable.

Huntly. —Between the 27th and 30th September last, from a tent at Whangapa Lake, the property of FRANK WALLACE MoHARRIE, 70 Massey Street, Frankton Junction, a five-valve Golden Knight vibrator battery set covered with green leatherette, serial No. 64016 on plate under chassis ; value, £2O. Identifiable. .

Opotiki. — 7th September last, from a passage in the Opotiki Hotel, the property of EDWARD BOND KENNEDY, 44 Hume Street, Lower Hutt, a gentlemen’s double-breasted brown tweed overcoat with silk lining of lighter colour, large heavy collar, pleat at back; value, £lO. Identifiable. A small pattern of the coat and lining is filed.

Rotorua. — 16th or 17th ultimo, from a room in the Palace Hotel, the property of SALLIE SHAW, a small square chromium travelling clock in dark-green case, Arabic numerals, dark-green moire silk lining in case; a brown leather manicure - case, 9 in. by 4i- in., opens book-wise, brown silk lining with white stripes, containing silver fittings, two nail-files, scissors, a silver case containing polish, and other manicure requisites; and a small tin of bath salts; total value, £5 6s. Identifiable.

Palmerston North.— On or about the 4th August last, the property of MARION COX, 255 Victoria Avenue, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, set with three diamonds in platinum, similar to illustration No. 90 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 6, except that the diamonds are smaller, and that there • is a slight space between them; value, £3O. Identifiable. Complainant may have lost the ring, and it is considered possible that some one has found it and may be keeping it.

Masterton.— Between the 20th October last and 20th ultimo, from a motor-car or from a shed at the dwelling of WILLIAM HENRY DICKENS, Queen Alexandra Street, a -22 calibre repeating rifle, No. 27691, trombone action, made by Nationale Amies Co., Belgium ; value, £3. Wellington. — loth August last, from the Anti-aircraft Battery, Mount Victoria, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Army Department), a -303 calibre Lee Enfield service rifle, bolt No. 9168 E., body No. C. 5033 ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Between the 17th September and the 23rd October last, the property of FREDERICK WILLIAM FURKETT, 58 Matai Road, Hataitai, a well worn 1932 model Leica miniature camera with chromium-plated knobs and interchangeable Leitz-Elmar lens, f. 35 cm. focus,* focal plane shutter from 1/20 to 1/500 second, detachable range-finder, similar to cameras used by street photographers ; a light-brown leather camera case, with “ F. Wellington. —During the night of the 4th October last, the premises of SCHAMROTH BROS., furriers, 127 Willis Street, were broken into and the following stolen : A striped marmot fur coat of light-brown colour with darker brown stripes running diagonally from front downwards to back seam where they form Vs, 42 in. long and 54 in. to 56 in. around hips, swagger style with broad shoulders, two side pockets on angle, small band collar about 3 in. wide, straight wide plain sleeves fastened down front with three hooks and eyes, lined with brown silk, pocketing is of white linen with black stitching; eighteen southern skunk fur stoles, about 40 in. long by 4 in. wide with tail about 9 in. long and two small legs about 2 in. long at each end, elastic swivel at centre, and a head and another tail (nine are of medium brown colour, and the others are lighter brown), all are fitted with silk cord chains and hooks, brown silk lining tuckered for full length and with line of stitching down centre ; nine opossum fur stoles of same description as those preceding but being of darker brown in colour, and with three tails at each end ; three southern skunk fur stoles of single length, about 30 in. long by 4 in. wide, head at one end and tail and two small legs about 2 in. long at other, light-brown in colour with slightly darker tails which are about 9 in. long, fitted with silk cord chain, and a clip jaw on head, lined with brown silk tuckered full length with line of stitching down centre total value, £l2O ss. Dunedin.—6th October last, from clothing in a hut on the farm of Alexander Marshall, Wangaloa, the property of WILLIAM SCOTT, three £5 notes; and a£l note. Suspicion is attached to Arthur Miller Keen, age sixteen years and a half, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, natural teeth ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, short light-grey overcoat, and felt hat with narrow black band.
