Wellington. —3lst ultimo, for theft of a bicycle and money, &c., value £286, the property of Gibsons and Paterson, 100 Dixon Street, Edward Kelly, referred to in Police Gazette, 1940, page 796. He was dressed in grey flannel trousers, grey pullover, blue check sports coat (no hat). Accused who was employed by the complainant firm was given the money and cheques to pay into the Bank of New Zealand except one cheque for £23 15s. 2d., which he was - instructed to . cash and to bring the proceeds back to his employers whose bicycle he took on this business. He did : not pay the money, &c., into the bank but cashed the cheque for £23 15s. 2d. and disappeared. The following is a description of the stolen property: A crossed endorsed postal-note for 15s.
