Newton. 2nd September last, from the shop door of GEORGE CRESS WELL CONNELL, tailor, 519 Karangahape Road, a gentlemen’s black camel-hair double-breasted overcoat, size 4, four buttons on front, loose belt with buckle which is covered with black leather ; value, £7 7s. Identifiable.

Gisborne. —lsth September last, from a compound on Darton Field Aerodrome, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Meteorological Department), a meteorological thermometer for measuring degrees of frost on grass, round in shape, and about 12 in. long; value, £2. Identifiable.

Wanganui. On the 11th ultimo, the dwelling of GEORGE MURCH, 36 Campbell Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s rolled-gold Omega wristlet watch, No. 9536744, “D. 269 ” and “ 18/12/39 ” faintly scratched on inside case, “ G. Murch, 19/12/39 ” inscribed on back case; a ladies’ gold ring, claw set with three sapphires in cross setting ; a ladies’ gold ring, set with three small diamonds in claw setting; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, set with an opal in centre surrounded by twenty-two diamonds in marquise setting, larger diamond at each end of opal, one diamond slightly darker than the others; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold solitaire diamond ring, fine platinum setting ; a gold brooch set with pearls and pink and green stones; a pink crystal necklet; an ear-ring with amber drop; and an earring with white pearl drop ; total value, £72 15s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), who was wearing a light-grey tweed suit and dark-grey felt hat. He was seen on the veranda of complainant’s house.

Wanganui. —Between the Bth February last and 7th ultimo, from a dwelling at 86 Niblet Street, the property of HENRY NEAS, 8 Koromiko Road, a -32 calibre Colt revolver, No. 50179 ; value, £l. Wellington.— the 6th September last, the warehouse of the EXCELSIOR SUPPLY CO., LTD., was broken into, the safe opened by means of explosives, and £29 12s. Id. stolen. A claw hammer with “ E.” and “ R.W.” on it was found near the safe which had apparently been left by the offender.
